I've spent a lot of time looking at the Aliners for an article in the next issue of the magazine. Plus I just helped out Kerola's campers at the Pittsburgh RV show with his little campers - including Aliner.
Both Aliner & Chalet have models with bathrooms now, we'll see if either wants me in one of their units bad enough to make me a deal I can't refuse.
Maybe they would want a woman's perspective on a camper...I volunteer to try one for the summer. :D
Aliners are made in PA. goto their website's dealer finder //www.aliner.com
I've spent alot of time camping in an Aliner :)
Aliner or Chalet , you and Shirley (it is Shirley right?? CRS) would be happy.
Hmmmmmmm......You get campers, keep 'em for a year and sell em...
I'll put my order in now, how 'bout a Chalet XL with the dormer... like this one (http://66.224.40.118:8080/abs/Books14/Downloads/xl-flier.pdf) :sombraro:

That's pretty cool. If I didn't already have the land yacht with a hitch, I could almost be talked into one of those...
OK - who logged into my account an edited my post to answer my question? While I appreciate the information, I find this offensive.
If this was done by a moderator or ADMIN, I am more than a little peeved. Respond to my question with your own post, not by hacking mine.

Not sure who did it, Jim. What did your original post say?
I would admit to it if I did it. But I bet it may have been edited for clarity or for a working link. But I don't know.
Larry
I posted that, but not from your account, from mine. I probably hit the edit key instead of the reply button by mistake, they're next to each other.
I remember you saying you were going to an RV show in Edison NJ and asked if there were any dealers in the PA NJ NY area and I was responding with Aliner's website
Now that I think about it, I wondered why your response wasn't high lighted when I hit what I thought was the reply button.
Sorry
Dave
Larry - thanks for the reassurance, but I was 99.99% sure it was not another member.
My post stated that I was going to the Edison, NJ RV/camping show on Saturday and we had hoped to find some Aliners there. My mom is seriously considering one, but I was having trouble finding a dealer in the PA/NJ/NY area. I live in PA and my mom lives in NJ.
Dave - I appreciate your "'fessing up". It was quite disconcerting, and at first I thought someone had hijacked my account, but I found no other "anomalies" in my other recent posts.
Honestly, it appeared that it was hacked to make me look like a shill for Aliner. I surmise from what you said that as the site admin, you can edit someone else's post, as well as reply to them?
Let's keep our fingers under control, shall we . . . :) :) :)
Here's a cup of :morning:
Jim,
Glad we found an easy answer. Obviously, Dave accidentally hit the wrong button. That's the reason Dave and I aren't in charge of the shiny red buttons in the missile silos. :D
I think you'll find that we moderators and admin don't mess with posts unless it violates rules (found on the board), or to fix links, etc. Something legitimate.
Larry
I am impressed with the a-frames as well, especially with the quality finish, better suited for cold-weather camping, and quick set-up. Don't care for losing some space, the cost, and the lack of "openness" however. I look forward to the article.

DW and I have owned both an Aliner and a Chalet. We started with a Aliner Expedition LXE with front bath and currently own a Chalet XL 1910 with the optional bath over the axle.
Comparing the two campers is like apples and oranges.
The restroom in the old Expedition was almost impossible for me to use as I am 6'2" tall. However, the Chalet XL has the restroom over the axle, so that I can stand up. We never used the shower in the Expediton, but have used the Chalet's.
Where we had counter space and the bath on the Expedition, we now have a dinette table.
We covered the rear dinette with a full size Queen mattress and are quite happy with our unit.
We also have a custom license plate that says "CVRDWGN" which stands for CoVeReD WaGoN.
With the higher walls and counters it's just great to camp in. This will be our 3rd year in it, and we're looking forward to this year. Lots of local camping with a camping group we're members of, and a three week trip to Michigan to see family. Then there's our own fishing and weekend, and weekday, getaways here in Colorado.

Camper Animal welcome to PUT!
I think that one of them will be my retirement camper. So dave if you get one make sure it has a bathroom. Then maybe you can make me a deal in a year or two.:D
After all the different campers I have had, getting my Aliner LXE was the best thing I ever did! It is the best of all worlds: lightweight like a PU, able to stop in a rest area and use my own bathroom like a TT, and sets up quicker than my hybrid ever did. It is also the best constructed camper I have had. The details "behind the scenes" (like in cabinets, and underneath stuff that you wouldn't look at) are great and it looks like they put it together with care.
The next issue of the magazine has an article about Aliner and is on its way to the printer.[IMG][IMG]
Nice!

We are interested in the Aliners. We have a Chalet dealer in Albuquerque which is about 60 miles from home. There are no Aliner dealers that I know of close by. What is the major difference between the two? Is a cassette potty avaliable in the Aliner Expedition? Great magazine Dave....thanks!
I have the NON-popup Aliner. There are a few things I would do differently, but I bought this used.
Dealing with Aliner is a pure pain in the you know what. They answer questions with one and two word answers. YUCK.
My spare is INSIDE the trailer. So if anyone knows of something that will hook onto the outside to hook my spare tire on, I would appreciate knowing. Remember my door is on the back side, so the rear bumper is out (unless someone comes up with and idea to use the spare for a step.
Clearance is low on the Cabin A, I cannot even back down my drive (backing it uphill is not a problem) Sewer lines are exceptionally low.
Inspite of the minor things, I love my little trailer. It has everything my Bantam has except for comfortable beds and room. The bench is as wide as a sleeping bag...that is where I lay my head.
I would like to move the "night stand" out and make a frame for a full sized mattress. And use my personal folding table on the other end of the bench. This is similar to how the permanent bed models are made.
When we bring the dinette and drop it, there is NO room to sit. And I have to have a soft mattress for my back (I have a queen sized memory foam doubled over and fits the bench beautifully, then I have an eggcrate also doubled...get the picture???). So making and un-makeing the memory foam on the dinette is NOT an option when Raymond comes with me. There is no place to store the memory foam while "living" in the trailer...and Raymond LIVES in the trailer.
Have you looked into using a spare tire mount that they use on fishing boat trailers? It bolts onto the towing bar frame along side of your propane bottles. A local marine dealer may have your answer.

Will you post the Aliner article on your website?

yes, I bought one and the tire is too big, it is one of those that supposedly holds the tire up, but there is not enough clearance for me to feel safe going over bumps (like gettingoff my drive and some humps in some roads.
I added a full sized mattress to the Dinette. Had to cut out the night stand, used the table and the insert. Not easy getting to the water heater now. Scott (EMTDad) helped me with the electic plug...hey
Scott, I have another Elecric Mod...I want to pig tail the electic plug, can you help me re-wire this??? Since adding the mattress, I have to lift the mattress incase the cord gets twisted up in the fan boxes... I want to cut the cord to about 6" outside the trailer and add new correct plug ends on the pig tail and the rest of the cord. Just use it like I use the 30 amp extension cord...Are you game???
I have put the spare in the back of the pick up truck, behind the drawers and bins, water carrier and gray water tank.
Let me say that Aliner seems to have new management. I e-mailed today with the numbers that I got from the formaldahyde test.
Seems that my Cabin A tests at .021 Parts per million (PPM) the recommended maximum is .01 PPM. There is another organization that says people with breathing problems (Moi) should ahve no more than .004 PPM...
My trailer has twice the "allowable" and 5 times the amount for people with breathing problems. After being repeatedly ignored and half answers, I got a call today and explained what had happened and about the CO detector and what my (Jayco) dealer had said. They are going to split the cost of the Fantastic Vent (which comes standard in the TRE, formerly Cabin A) including the installation AND send me a bumper mounted spare tire holder...
THANK YOU ALINER for finally coming through!!!
BTW!!! I highly recommend the Fantasic vent, I paid a little extra for a thermostat and speed control as well as in or out (not sure if that is standard). I used the Cabin A the last two weekends and did not get sick until I got to work this morning (someone went wild with ammonia)!!
Oops pete and repete trying to correct a number I had the wrong decimal point on.
