Title: Cedars of Lebanon State Park in TN
Post by: east lake hunter on Jan 17, 2008, 09:17 PM
DW and I are headed to Murfreesboro TN the week of Spring Break to watch our DD play in a high school softball tournament.  DW wants to take the PUP.   Closet camp ground I can find to Murfreesboro is Cedars of Lebanon State Park.   Has anyone out there stayed in the campground?   If so, what did you think about it?

Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

There are actually three cg's within Cedars of Lebanon - two are adjacent to each other and the other is directly across the road.  During spring break, I'm guessing that only one may be open.  The one that remains open year-round is designed for RV camping.  Lots of pull-through sites (try to get the ones on the perimeter if you can).  The restrooms are decent and in that section don't get a ton of use, since many of the people use their own facilities.  I'm not much for the RV Park feel, so I prefer the other cg's.  My favorite is actually what used to be the primitive cg.  They added 15 amp power a few years ago and the sites are huge (and level) with lots of grass.  Bath house in this one is the oldest and could stand renovating, but as long as it's relatively clean, I'm ok with it.  Certainly not the worst I've encountered.  With all that said - I really like camping at Cedars and it's only a half hour from home.  I think you would definitely be fine using this park as a base for Murfreesboro.

It is a decent place.

Old Stone Fort State Park is probably a better choice for proximity to M'boro. It is pretty nice and quiet. Bathhouse might not be open that time of year.

Also, I've heard the Manchester KOA is decent, too, as KOA's go, but I've never been to it.
