Title: Mammoth Cave Campground recommendations
Post by: luvtocamp on Feb 20, 2008, 10:57 PM
We are planning a trip to Mammoth Cave soon and would love some recommendations as far as campgrounds with good scenery and some privacy between sites. Also, anyone done the Wild Cave Tour?

There are some great campgrounds behind Mammoth in the Devils Post Pile area.  You got Upper Soda Springs campground, Pumice flats campground.  There are streams and lakes all around with great trout fishing.

I think the previous reply confused Mammoth Cave with Mammoth Mountain in Calif.  As for Mammoth Cave, I just camp in the National Park campground, although it doesn't have electricity.  The space between sites has never been an issue because I've never seen it more than 1/4 full.  If you need hookups, there is a Jellystone there, but I don't think you'd be pleased with it.  I don't know of any others offhand, but I'm sure there are some private campgrounds in the area nearby.
