My wife and kids want to go to Destin, so with the economy like it is, I suggested camping. What campgrounds connected to the beach do you recommend? Need water and electric. Thanks for any info.

My wife camped with her family at Henderson Beach State Park (http://www.floridastateparks.org/hendersonbeach/default.cfm) near Destin, and has many fond memories there. We will be heading down there this fall, and that's where we plan to stay. It looks great on the web site. But I just realized this is not very helpful since they reserve through Reserve America.............

Hi. We stayed for a few days last summer at Camping on the Gulf. Granted it's an rv resort type of place rather than a St Park. It does have pools, and is right on the beach. check out their website or give them a call...still cheaper than hotels/rental houses.
Also, might try Grayton Beach SP. it's a little out of the way about 1/2 way between Panama City Beach and Destin.
Topsail SP is my favorite place to camp in Destin. If you can't get in there, try Henderson SP or Grayton Beach state park. Those would be my other top picks. I'm not a big fan of Camping on the Gulf because the campsites are way to close together. You put out your awning & you are just about touching the other person's camper.
