Title: New PUP for the Kutz Family
Post by: dkutz on Jul 05, 2008, 03:52 PM
OK all this new trailer buying by SCCampers gave us trailer envy so of course we started the search.   The first was a mis advertised trailer on craigslist.  Too small, and too bad of shape.  The second was a REALLY nice new 07 Starcraft at a dealer with slide out dining area that was HUGE.  But too expensive.  Next was a Used Camplite on CL (what A MESS!!).  Another stop at another dealer to look at New Fleetwoods.

What we found on Craigslist is a 2003 Coleman/Fleetwood Tacoma. (Wavery Clone, I may change my user name ;) ) We will be the 3rd owner, and if the story is true it sounds like its only been used a total of like 8 or ten times.

A/C, heat, awning, water heater two king beds.  Pretty much what we were looking for.  Its in really nice shape, but like our last purchase needs some TLC from lack of maintainence. (Wash wax water proof, bearings packed)  Also does not have a aux battery, which I want to install.

It will be Great to have AC for lopez :-()

Look out Wayne, alot of questions coming your way :yikes:

Congratulations Dieter.  I know what you mean about the a/c.  I have been worrying about that for months.  We will have to have a viewing of all the new trailers at the campout.

Jacqui

Congratulations on your new trailer.  I hope you have MANY years of camping pleasure.

It took us 3x to find our dream trailer.  #1 Coleman Santa Fe, #2 Fleetwood Niagara & finally our hybrid.

Can't wait to check it out.  If your wife sews, I can show her how to make seatcovers for your seats.

Congrats Dieter.

Thanks for sending the T/Shirts. I'll pay you for the shipping the next time we see you.

I hope that you are as happy with your Tacoma as we are with ours. I've never had a single complaint about ours.

The best 2 mods that we did to ours was the "Drawer Mod" and the "Porta-pottie Mod"..Check out these links:

I have already looked at both of those.  We like the drawer mod, but we have three kids and two adults.  Maybe to drawers for the kids, but the DW and I will have to find a place for our stuff.  We purposely avoid a trailer with a bathroom and shower, cause we won't use it, and don't want the mess in the trailer.

The one down fall to this trailer that I see is storage space.  Of course I looked at the outside while wife checked out inside.  It didn't look like it had the drawer space like our starcraft to store plates and silverware etc.  We will know better when we bring it home and transfer equipment.

You know how Kristi and I feel about Jayco. You won't be dissapointed. If we could have towed a Jayco Toyhauler we would have had one.

Well....I am saving up for a Fleetwood Revolution LE. I might settle for the Fleetwood Excursion...still have to think about it. I like the cushions and such better in the Excursion, but the woodwork is better in the Revolution. Plus, the Revolution has higher HP. I've got time to mull it around.... :D

In the meantime, we are still having fun in our Fleetwood Hemlock.

Lisa

One of our ToyHo friends has a Revolution LE, very nice.  But Lisa would never step outside if she had a rig like that.

dieter.you will LOVE the A/C!! and I'm assuming since you listed the water heater you don't have one in your current PU, you will love that alot, dishes go much faster. Just a note on the water heater. when I had my niagara they had the water heater temp thing set at half way...it was WAY to hot you could boil noodles with it. easily could get 2nd degree burns from it..I had my on the lowest and it was plenty hot enough..you may want to start at the lowest and go from there..hate for the kids to get their cute little hands burned
can't wait to check it out

Lisa..good luck with that new rv

Wholly cow those things are big!  And more than we paid for our house.  And at $5 a gallon, I don't want to know what it would cost to operate!

Would be fun to rent for a week though, if I could afford it....

Post by: dkutz on Jul 11, 2008, 05:26 PM
Argh, well maybe not.  When we went to look at the trailer the owner said, "oh and I meant to tell you I don't have the pink slip, I am still paying the original owners"  So I said we would give her a deposit, but not pay until we saw the pink slip.  Turns out the first owners don't have the pink either, because they are still paying off the loan.  So I don't know whats gonna happen now.  I am not buying something that someone elses bank still owns.  Hopefully this works out, but it doesn't look good, and it doesn't look like it will happen soon...we'll see...  Bummed

Bummer..Maybe you could contact the original owner and see if you can deal direct with them and the bank that holds the pink..??

yeah but the second owner actually paid off her debt to the first owners so technically its her trailer, really the first owners are the ones that are messin things up...

That sucks!  You are in some sort of screwed up Trailer triangle.  Hopefully it works out, if not, there are more deals out thee right now.  With gas what it is people are jumping ship on camping everyday.  Good Luck

"Wavery" (loose the "L" will ya :p ) is trailerless........we feel naked. :(

We are trying to find a Trailmanor 2720SD. Not an easy task.

We want to stay with a PU but my back just can't take the set-up of the traditional PU anymore. The Trailmanor sets up pretty easily and we can still park it in our garage. It weighs about the same as my Coleman PU.. They're a bit pricey but it's the only way that we can keep on camping, the way that we like.

Thanks but that guy is out of his mind if he thinks he's going to get $12K for a '96 2720.

I am currently looking at a 2006 2720SL in Nashville Tenn for $13K and there is a guy in Colorado Springs that has a 2000 that he wants $8K for. The one in CO has some hail damage and it's a long ways to drive to find out that I don't want it.

It sure would be nice to find one close to home. I missed a 2619 at Richardson's RV in Sun City CA by 2 hours. They sold it for $7900 (it was listed for $10K).
