Post by: camperjohn on Aug 29, 2008, 06:48 PM
Hello Everyone,

The Cosgrove's (John, Shelly and Stephanie) will be camping in Gettsyburg with Tracy. We are staying at Granite Hill Campgound on Site P2 and P3. 10/10 - 10/13.

We hope you can join us. There is the National Apple Harvest Festival. Pumpkin picking, Apple Picking and Ghost Tours and Don't for the Battle Fields. There is plenty to do that weekend there. They also are offering a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning at the Campground. Electric and water sites are $37.00 a night.

We hope you can join the fun!!

It looks like we'll have a mini Apple Harvest Rally!!
I think there will be at least 9 campers at my last count.
What fun!!! Wear your most comfortable walking shoes!
Tracy, do you have directions on how to get to the fairgrounds from the campground? If not, I will try to bring an extra copy.
Cheryl

I do not have directions, so if you could bring an extra copy I would appreciate it.  Do you have any other plans for the weekend?  What nights will you be camping?:)

We will be there Friday morning until Monday afternoon.
The men usually burn wood, drink beer, and play cards.
The ladies spend most of Saturday and some of Sunday at the Fairgrounds. It is nearly impossible to see all that there is to see at the Fairgrounds in one day, my feet don't last that long, so we stretch it out over two days. We'll have a campfire every night. Come on over and join us.
Cheryl and the gang
P.S. I'll try to remember extra directions, and there is admission charged to get into the fairgrounds ($7) but there is no charge for parking. If you can find someone up in that area that can look for admission coupons in the newspaper, there generally are $1-off coupons available. We never get them in this area.

I contacted the contact e-mail on the Apple Festival website and inquired about coupons. The one near Morgantown (French Creek) has an online coupon and I thought I was missing Gettysburg's...but it seem I was not...here is the reply. I do have the right Apple Festival Correct?

Thanks for your interest in our festival, however, we will not be having discount coupons. The general admission price is $8.00. You can purchase advance tickets by sending a check to us now and get advance tickets for $7.00 each by mail.

Our address is
The National Apple Harvest Festival
PO Box 38
Biglerville, PA 17307.

If you choose to do this please write the amount of advance tickets that you want to purchase in the check memo and we will send them to you.

Thanks for your interest in our festival.

Sounds like a fun time and I 'm sorry to miss it. That's parent's weekend for my oldest and she wants us to try to come (her senior yr). Enjoy. I'll especially miss the campfire. Starting to feel like fall here, at least in the evenings. Perfect weather.

Looks like we got squozed in--we are on Post 1, arriving Friday afternoon and departing on Sunday.  (I have to catch a plane on Monday for Missouri for a conference.  Hence the early departure.  Dang work keeps getting in the way of recreation.)

It'll be Margie, myself and, of course, the camping felines.

See y'all then.

I will be leaving on MOnday...just not sure how long I can handle a two year old...I may have to leave a little earlier and hopefully come back. I am slated to bring Jeffrey's 2 year old Bundle of Joy or more realistically, energy...we will see if his mom changes her mind about letting me have him for the long weekend.  Shannon offered to let be bring his almost 2 year old also...Can you see me, the person who does not like kids, with 2 two year olds?? Hard enough to see me with one...

I did a trial run yesterday (not with the 2 year old) and went to the Renn Faire (in full costume as usual, Raymond stayed home). Last year I could not go because of my injured back, walking any distance was almost impossible...AND this year, I walked and walked and walked and walked...where is that silly orthopedic surgeon???   He told me I would never get better...FOOLED him...yes I am ready for the Apple festival... I LOVE yoga dot org dot NZ AND the Miracle Ball I am now walking 5 miles a day...so look out Biglerville, I am BAAAck!!!

Hey you all!
When are you guys planning on getting to Granite Hill? Some of our group are going up Thursday eve. We are going up Friday morning before lunch. The $10 early arrival fee is worth it to get most of an extra day in camping!!!!!! Hope to see everyone real soon.

Cheryl I have to work on Friday so I will be leaving work about 1615.  Not sure what the best/most fuel efficient/shortest way to get to the campground is.  From home it is about 2 hours to Gettysburg.  I should be there before 1900 unless I hit bad traffic.:D
