A new wildfire has broken out at Point Mugu State Park near Oxnard.
Pacific Coast Highway has been shut down in both directions in the area.
The fire, located at the far west end of the Santa Monica mountain range, has burned about 20 acres of dry bush, but no homes are threatened right now. It was spotted just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.
About 100 firefighters and some water-dropping aircrafts have been called in.

Is the camp ground up the road from where we camp near the fire? That wouldn't be a very good spot to be ........As I remember it's a box canyon with very small sites.......We checked it out when we dumped our tanks......

It seems that the fire is a few miles
North of Thornhill Broome (where we camped on the beach). Sycamore Cove CG is the other direction about 1/2 mile. Hwy 1 is closed from Thornhill Broome, North.
As of this morning, the fire is still burning.
