Title: Birmingham, AL
Post by: MCSEDanny on Jan 02, 2009, 11:46 AM
Does anyone know of any decent camping around Birmingham?  I am looking to the north or east of the city since we live in Atlanta and are looking for a short trip with a combined reason.  We always want to camp, but have other things we need to accomplish there.  Thanks so much.

Mt. Cheaha is nice.  It is East of Birmingham on I-20 just before the Talledega Raceway.  Probably a 30 minute drive on into Birmingham.  Closer to Birmingham is Oak Mountain State Park.  I haven't camped there in a while.  The park itself is great, I had heard that the campground could use a little work.  Try this link to find campgrounds and see reviews.  http://www.epgsoft.com/CampgroundMap/index.html
Once you zoom and find a campground, it has links to the campground itself, and links to recent reveiws from other campers.
