Does this campground fill quickly? Won't know this week what the vacation schedule at work looks like. Do you think I would be able to get a spot, even if it's not with the group, if we decide we want to come up later?

I would go ahead and make reservations and then you can cancel them if you can not attend.  It would be a shame for you to get that time off and then not get a site in the campground.  Hope to see you there.

I am trying to arrange my schedule so I can make it. I see where there is a $10 cancelation fee, that is doable if I have to go get my mother from Indiana for the Wedding on July 4th.  I will need a LOT of time off from work as she is HIGH MAINTENANCE.

Hope you can make it Paula!!!!
You'll deserve some campfire time by then.

No I have about 2 tons of Christmas stuff at HOME in a shed and in the basement...Smartee Pants.  There is no room in the truck or trailer to carry much more than I do as my camping buddies and buddettes can attest. Christmas in July will be extrememly limited.

Take out the boats???  One goes on top of the vehicle and the other is in a duffle bag...Is the creek kayakable???

Btw.  drum roll pease...(j/k) I am next to Nancy on 38 Saturday to Saturday....If I have to back out due to extended time off with my mother, I only loose $10.

They still had 39 open.

Possibly, The woman at the office told me I was on the other side of Nancy!

Di, catching stuff like this means you have too much time on your hands...

or a good memory, Paula. Just doesn't get used much...

I am actually getting excited about camping. Don't think about it much over the winter but it seems like plans are hopping now. I was on the site checking dates, because Chris needed them to request vacation days.

Everything is chaotic once again as we just got word that Kelsey's club soccer team is folding (most of the girls are older and moving on to college ball). So, she's scrambling to find another team before the upcoming deadline. I thought I had it all worked out for this spring and summer, practice days wise, tournament dates etc... Kids, they drive you crazy. Sure would be easier to have a bookworm or a couch potato...

Hi All,
It looks like we are up to 15 campers now. Yeah!
Paula, the creek looked like it was navigable for most of the stretch in front of your sites. Parts looked shallow but with snow melt and spring rains I'm sure it will be good for kayaking in at least parts.
Come on camping season!!

Time is getting close to the rally. I hope everyone will be getting their schedules in order and anything else needed.

I tried to post on the popluck supper thread but it doesn't seem to be working. Not that I know what we're bringing yet. I just like to check on the different foods that everyone will be bringing.

Hi all,
I was checking on my reservation and was made aware that the campground is not applying a discount because they are not looking at us as a group since we made our reservations separately. I'm going to email them with the list and hopefully that will clarify us as a group and make the discount available.

Mike

Title: Reservation discount
Post by: Cheryl on Jul 08, 2009, 03:50 PM
I decided to contact the campground and the problem seems to be that they had listed my group as the PopUpTimes rally but other reservations were not grouped with them. Hargus is faxing a list of the group and as long as we have 10 or more reservations we will receive the group discount.
I hope this clarifies things for everyone and please make sure you check you totals when you check-in.
Happy camping,
Cheryl

Post by: DiW on Jul 08, 2009, 05:24 PM
I was told that discounts are only applied at check in time. I assumed they wanted to ensure that enough of our group shows up to earn the discount. All my emails indicated we were part of the PopUpTimes group (PUT) and they seemed to acknowledge I was with a group. They also said they take other discounts like maybe AAA. Most likely we will be leaving our camper on site for a few days while we go back to NJ and they wouldn't give us a break, charging us full daily cost for the extra days instead of continuing the weekly rate for the extra days - apparently only the weekly discount applies to a 7 day period. Any additional days are at the full daily rate GRRRR!
Title:
Post by: Hargus on Jul 08, 2009, 10:41 PM
Thanks Cheryl, Diane.
I did email post #2 to the campground and put a PUT title on it.
The usual reservation confusion, they didn't have my name in their system but did have me reserved on site# 40 with my deposit.(I did clarify that I was with the PUT group when I registered some time ago.) They had my name along with Gardener and P-U-T. I'm not sure if that may be a name in our group. I explained to them that PUT means Pop Up Times, but they still wanted a list. The #2 post was the best I could come up with although it doesn't list our actual names just the site numbers.

Packing :-() Restocked the camper. Just need to fill the cooler tomorrow morning, find a good book and throw in a bottle of wine ;) and I'm good to go. For once, I think we may arrive first.

Post by: Hargus on Jul 10, 2009, 10:19 AM
Diane,
Tracy may be the one who wins the award for the first to arrive since I think she has the shortest trip. We may be one of the last to get there.

Ditto Diane!

I am coming alone so I am bringing the Cabin A. Raymond does have directions and may show up for one night, but I will not take bets on it.

I need to remember the cell phone charger that is in the minivan and will stop by Acme on my way up as they have the bread I can eat...did pack my Ezekiel English muffins/hamburger buns.

Since I cannot get there too early, I am hitching in the AM...See you all in the morning/early afternoon! I have about a 4 hour trip without stops along the way.

Hope all of you are having fun at the rally.  We're doing fine, thinking about you all.

We're doing well, in Cody, WY having spent our 2nd night here.  We just finished 10 wonderful nights in Yellowstone National Park.  Wow, what a place.  This country is beautiful!  We'll be leaving today for Devil's Tower, WY and overnight there tonight.  Sherrie's birthday was yesterday, we celebrated it by having dinner in Irma's Hotel and Restaurant, the hotel Buffalo Bill Cody built here in the early 1900's.

Again, our best to all there and hope you have a good time.  We wish we could do everything, be at the rally and do this trip but that's not to be.

The part of the campground that we were in was nice and shady, the full hook ups was not shady at all, that I could see.  The storm on Saturday night left the creek VERY high but we were in no danger where we were. No electric on Saturday night until the wee hours of Sunday AM.  The internet finally came up when I was leaving on Tuesday.

I wanted to swing by and say good bye to Cheryl and crew but the road I turned on was a little short thing, so I backed out and turned around, got to wave though!

Food was good at the dinner and the area is quite scenic (aka hilly, especially to a flatlander like me).
I enjoyed seeing everyone sorry I had to leave so soon, but have been very busy at work since I got back.

Glad you got home okay Paula!
We saw you and waved real hard. We liked our little private circle we were on but it was hard to get in and out of. Just got home today and am ready to hit the road again real soon. The week goes way too fast. We had a great time at the Rally and enjoyed seeing and meeting everyone. The Potluck dinner was great! We couldn't have asked for a better weather week. Although my group had a few traumas and troubles we all enjoyed the week, the campground, and the company. Can't wait to do it again!!!!!

I'm home.  I had to spend some time playing with the grandbaby before I could unload.  She wouldn't let me put her down.  So she "helped" me unpack.  Had a great time.  Hope to see you all soon.

We traveled home on Route 80 side by side with Hargus until he turned north on 81? (I think). We got home just in time to unload the popup and head to the airport to get Kels. Thought we had it all under control until we found out her flight was a half hour early (arrived at 5pm). Somehow, we got there in time to meet her coming through the gate.

Great summer day today. Didn't enjoy the storm last weekend, but the girls sure enjoyed the late trip to Walmart to pass the time. Amazing how silly 16 year old girls can be. Sorry we missed the mid week potluck and activities. It sure was nice to get back to the cg on Thursday - it was especially nice leaving the popup on the site while we were gone. All we had to do was show up - I guess that's how the big rigs feel when they just drive up and open the door and the camping begins.

Great pick, Cheryl and Tracy - sites were about what I would expect from a private cg - I liked the creek behind our sites and the bathroom was very nice (just not always open) Our area seemed pretty quiet. Chris and I even slept in a few days - especially when we were kidless... Pretty countryside. Shamokin Dam was a hit with the teens - more impressive than the Bucknell tour and our farmland drives (too smelly for the girls). We enjoyed the drive-in movie and we finally got out and drove through a couple covered bridges on one of our last days. Chris loved the homemade cookies from the fruit stand. I, of course, loved the ice cream stand.

Back to reality - Arrived home to discover that J has lost feeling in 2 fingers - he claims he didn't get a chance to mention it to the neurosurgeons on Friday at work because they were in surgery and he forgot to mention it when he called in sick on Thursday. Grrrr! Hopefully an MRI this week.

Hope everyone arrived home safe and sound. For everyone leaving on new camping adventures this week, have fun. We'll be thinking of you.

We arrived home later than planned thanks to much traffic in Conn & Mass.
It was an enjoyable ride most of the way. We stopped at a nice diner along 84 in NY.
Great selection on the campground. We enjoyed it and the company.
The potluck dinner was great as usual and nice to talk to everyone. I forgot to mention if anyone had any thoughts on next year.
I hope next years schedule will bring back some familar faces that have been missed for a couple of rallies.
