Title: 49er Village RV Resort Oct 16-18, 2009
Post by: OC Campers on Aug 07, 2009, 01:34 AM
After our rally this past weekend in Santa Cruz, we talked about doing a rally at 49er Village RV Resort in Plymouth.  This is a very pretty campground with lots of amenities.  It is also close to Apple Hill, Wine tasting and the Gold Country.  I thought I would throw this out there and see how many people are interested.  I will give the resort a call in the next day or two and see if they have openings.

All sites have water, electric, sewer and cable.  The standard 30 ft site is
$42 a night and if you have AAA or Good Sam you will get a 10 percent discount.  Check out their website at www.49ervillage.com (//%22http://www.49ervillage.com%22)

It would be a long trip for us but I am off the weekend of Oct 9-11.  I haven't talked to Stephanie yet but this might be possible.

Sign us up.
I know we have Soccer games but will still make it.
We are available both weekends in October 9-11 or 16-18.
We will need a site bigger than 30 feet though as we are 34' 10" long. I have squeezed into smaller sites, as the distance brom the rear wheels to the front bumper is 25', we just have a very big overhang at the rear

Do you want us to call the camp ground directly and reserve?

let me know

kathy

I am going to call them and see how to reserve sites.  If they want a nights deposit per site then I will ask everyone to get their own site.  If there is a  nominal fee than I will reserve 5 sites together.

We are available both weekends but our kids play soccer too and they have a bi week (have the weekend off from playing) that weekend.  We are going to be missing a game the end of September so I was afraid to miss a 2nd.

I will post after I call 49er Village.

Rich it would be great if you and Stephanie could join us on some rallies.   We enjoyed meeting both of you.  Maybe next time.

               UPDATE
Alright, I just got off the phone with 49er Village.  They wanted a nights deposit for everyone so I decided to ask everyone to make their own reservations.  Date is still Oct 16-18, 2009

I reserved a block of sites so if you want to check out the map you can
pick out your site before you call.  The sites he gave me are
227, 229, 231, 68 and 70.  They said they would hold the sites for 72 hours.  Sorry about the short amount of time.   Phone # to call is (800)339-6981
They are open till 8pm tonite (Friday).  If you don't call within the 72 hour time frame just call and get a site as close to us as you can.  He said they still had lots of sites available but will fill up fast.

Yeah Kathy!!!  Dummy me forgot to ask what site he gave me.  He put me in the middle of everyone so I am thinking I have 229.  Kathy will you get a hold of Susan and Barry and let them know too?

I forgot to let ya'll know in case you don't know my last name, it is Cantrell.  That's what the reservation is under.  You just have to give your own credit card number.

I called and made our reservation today.
She has put us in site 227, next to OC Campers in site 229 which might be a squeeze, but we will fit.
What size is barry and Susan's 5th wheel? If they come they might have to put us somewhere else.

I remember when we camped there back in 2003 and we were not allowed to have a campfire, but that was in June.
From their website "City ordinances prohibit open campfires. Use of fully enclosed fire pits on the asphalt pad is permitted only on approved burn days as determined by the local air quality agencies"
We do have a 'fully enclosed" fire pit we can bring if needed.

Here are some photos we took back at the GOLD RUSH rally at 49er Village in 2003

Thanks for the pictures Kevin.  Wow, that was when everyone had popups.  That doesn't seem that long ago but it was 6 years ago.

Barry and Susan's 5th wheel is 37 ft and it has 3 slides (IIRC)

Got my reservation all setup - we are in site 68 - 1 Adult, 1 Child, may be 2 adults if Rick can get off.

I believe Zamboni got site #70 IIRC when I was talking to the campground.

Since my last day working as a Retired Annuitant for the State Board of Equalization is 8/31 I hope we have enough money to get the transmission fixed.  I'm working 8 hours every day until then so it will be a pretty big check.  Anyway, if we get it fixed we will try to make it.  It depends on how Sal is doing and if we have enough money.  I'm going to have to find another job to make ends meet.  I'm not sure if I want to work for Wal-Mart again.  I'll have to check it out.

Hey, Miss Kathy, sounds like you have taken over my job.  That's OK since we haven't been able to attend many rallies.  I used to make biscuts with sausage gravy for Saturday mornings.   I didn't get any complaints either, but knowing this group, they wouldn't complaine any way.  I also love to cook; you are a girl after my own heard.  In fact, I have a spare bedroom that the sides of 3 of the walls have 2 shelves full of cook book (I collect them).  I have had to stop though beacuse I don't have ay more room.   Time to go through them and give them to the Library.

Joan's biscuits & gravy ROCKED -- I've always been a fan of b&g, perhaps because I went to college in Texas :p

Unfortunately, Kelly doesn't agree with my opinion... so I only get them at Denny's-type-places (rare when we go out for breakfast with our young kids)... or when camping with Joan!

Post by: zamboni on Sep 21, 2009, 12:07 AM
Our house is about 30 minutes from 49er (:# ), and we have a ton of parking on our wide street since we border a creek.

Kathy and Susan&Barry are coming up Thurs evening (Barry's parked his appartment-building-sized rig on our street before, and it finally looked small & alone), so we can all head out to 49er early Friday.

If anyone else wants to come to Sacramento and boondock Thursday night, you're welcome to - just let us know (we can do a big backyard BBQ that evening).  As this satellite pic shows, we have lots of street parking:

Thanks for the offer, and it is very tempting to pull the kids from school and play hookey from work on friday, but we will have to settle for leaving as soon as the kids get out of school on Friday, say sometime around 3 and allowing for traffic we should be there before dark.

Hey Zamboni, how about biscuts and sausage gravey for Saturday Morning?   I just booked site 225.   How I have to get that darn transmission fixed!:yikes:   As I posted in the Collins Lake thread, I received a beneficiary check from my Dad's life insurance and it will be just enough to get the transmission fixed.  I CAN'T WAIT!!!!  It will be good to see some of you again and meet the people I haven't had the pleasure of camping with yet.  I will be brining my girlfriend, Jeni, with me and we will come with all our dogs.   She has 2 black and tan, short hair, Chihuahua's (Tiko & Molly Mae).  I have 3 Chihuahua's; I still have Killer, Taz who is a black short hair, and Daisy (my new one) a long hair black and tan.

I may need help backing that long 5er into the spot so I'm putting all who will be there before me on notice.

See you all soon.

I made arrangments today to get the truck fixed and they came and towed it away this afternoon.  They said it will take about 4 days so that should be in plenty of time to make it to this rally.

A group of us are all heading out to 49'er Friday morning - timed to arrive at check-in time (some are boondocking on our street Thurs night; we're 30 minutes from the campground).

Thus, there will be enough people to help park your 5th -- including Barry, whose 5th makes yours look small (his has its own zip code) ;)

I remember them.  Didn't they have a Roo hybrid?  They were really nice people.

We will be making tacos for Friday dinner.  With the amount of people that will be there we may want another main dish to share.

Not sure about Saturday breakfast.  Maybe camp donuts?

Jacqui
Title:
Post by: Calstate361 on Oct 03, 2009, 11:04 PM
Yes, they had the Roo, but I haven't camped with them in a long time as Teresa had some medical problems and they slowed down on their camping for a while so I don't know if they still have it or not.   They are probably like the rest of us and have upgraded.  I'll have to ask them.  As for dinner Friday night, I'll think on it and come up with either bringing more taco stuff or some other Mexican dish.

Oh, by the way, I got the truck back and it is running beautifully so we are all set to go.  I have to get into the trailer on one of these cool days and clean it up as Sal was in there doing who knows what when he was kind of mixed up and kind of trashed it.

Got to go as the dogs are barking at something.

We are ready for the campout.  I just need to go out and turn on the fridge and load some stuff.  I love having the camper on the side of the house.  So easy to load.

We will bring the corn tortillas and 4 pounds of ground beef.  Can anyone else help with the lettuce, cheese, tomato and sour cream?  I will also bring the Lindy's sauce.  Yum.    Saturday dinner potluck i will bring a tri tip and some sort of side dish.

Saturday we will probably head out for Apple Hill if anyone is interested in tagging along.

We can handle the lettuce, tomatoes, some cheese and a tub of sour cream!!!

Bryan wants to have BBQ hamburgers, sure hope he doesn't burn them...LOL.  We will bring a large tossed salad to share.

If possible, can we cook a small portion of the meat plain because of Bryans allergy to tomatoes or do I need to bring some? We have plently.

Are we doing a shared breakfast for Saturday or Sunday?
Title:
Post by: OC Campers on Oct 13, 2009, 09:50 PM
I don't use any seasoning in the ground beef only a little salt and pepper.  No tomato unless you put it on the taco.  I am going to bring a pasta salad to share for Saturday dinner.

We can do a breakfast potluck if you want.   I believe Joan said something about biscuits and gravy.  I will bring scrambled eggs and some breakfast meat.

It was difficult to think of camping yesterday with the storm that battered us, over 10" of rain in the mountains.
It looks like it will clear up for the weekend, and we should have some decent weather.
Not sure what I'll bring to the potlucks, and looking forward to seeing everyone again

I am sorry Margaret and Ashling won't be able to make it.  Chris and Matthew are looking forward to hanging out with the guys.

My friends John and Teresa came by on Monday after work to make sure I had  everything I needed before we leave on Friday.  John wasn's sure if he could leave work before 3:00 so I'm not sure we will make it for dinner.   Teresa said she would call me Thursday as John will have a better idea when he might be able to leave so I'll let you know.  I'll still bring the Taco dish just in case we make it.

Kevin, sorry Margaret and Ashley won't be there, I was looking forward to seeing them again.

We will not be able to hit the road till 4pm which means we should get there about 530pm.  Should only take us about 20 minutes to setup and then get dinner started.

We are going to have to cancel.  Alexa has a fever and has not been sleeping well so I think it's best we stay home.  We will miss seeing everybody:(

What a nice weekend.  Even though we had a few cancel we still had a super time.  It was great seeing Joan back in the swing of things.  She did great hauling that big ole 5er to the cg.  Even dealt with a flat tire on the way.  Did you make it home ok Joan?  Thank heavens for AAA.

Kevin (6Quigs) thank you for keeping an eye on Matthew for us on Saturday.  He had a much better time playing with Shane and Conner than walking around window shopping with us.  As we were driving home, the boys were asking when we were going to go camping next.  I hated to tell them probably not till February.  Also, thank you for the endless supply of margaritas.  The tiki hut is a neat touch.

Bonnie and Rick thanks for being our chauffeur into Placerville.  We had a great time riding the stagecoach and eating salt water taffy.

Yes, it was great being in the camping mode again.  I'm rather proud of myself even though I had John park the trailer for me.  I thought he was going to back it in the next thing I know he is driving around and "driving through" to my site!!!  I could have done that!!!:yikes:  Anyway, we made it home without another flat or incident but I couldn't get that big old darn trailer to back up straight into my driveway (I really tried) so I had to have Shawn back it in for me.   My girlfirend Jeni (Shawn's mother) also had a great time and really enjoyed meeting all of you.  I think I have her convinced that camping (or RVing) is fun!   Kevin, I agree with Jacqui that your Tiki bar was great.

It was really fun and thanks to all of the "loaner or camp" husbands that helped me out.

I'll post the 3 recipes soon on the this food site.  I'll let you all know when I do.

Miss Kathy, if I can do it, you can too.

I know - I just got the tranmission fixed (3200.00) and it does not seem to pull very well on the straight aways.  Works great in the hills- I have it at the shop today and making them test it with the trailer on the back-

I should of just pulled out my tent trailer and went- I am pissed at my self for not doing that.
