Title: Camping in NE PA??
Post by: jarvo9 on Aug 13, 2009, 12:57 PM
Hello all,

New to camping in PA.  We recently moved to CT and would like to find some great family campgrounds, state parks are fine too, in the Northeast PA region.  We have to sons 10 & 7 and would like to have access to some nice kayaking while we camp as well.  Any recommendations???

TIA!

Try the Lackawanna State Park  I know it has good fishing on a beautiful lake

We enjoy the PA State Parks a lot.  We have camped at Hickory Run and Locust Lake, and both are enjoyable.  Hockory run does not have any water for canoe/kayaking, but the Lehigh Gorge is nearby.  Locust lake has a nice little lake perfect for small boys to paddle on.  Ricketts Glen is another with a lake, but we are staying there for the first time in October.

We live in the Poconos, and there are a number of private campgrounds, but we tend not to camp in them.  We have 10 acres and pop up right in our own back yard if we get the urge but don't have the time to travel.
