San Lorenzo Park (//%22http://www.co.monterey.ca.us/parks/sanlorenzo_camping3.html%22)
Wine Country RV Resort (//%22http://www.winecountryrvresort.com/%22)
Monterey Vacation RV Park (//%22http://www.campingfriend.com/MontereyVacationRVPark/%22)
Casa de Fruta (//%22http://www.casadefruta.com/VISIT_accom.aspx%22) This campground has an area that is away from the main campground where our group evening noise would not be an issue. Could be fun to have some privacy for the group. A mid-June to the first part of July would be the best time for a rally here. It's approx 50 minutes to Santa Cruz or San Jose (Winchester Mystery House) and approx 40 minutes to Monterey.
The Garlic Farm RV Park (//%22http://www.thegarlicfarmrvpark.com/rvclubs.html%22) This park is a few miles closer to the Monterey peninsula than Casa de Fruta.
Santa Margarita KOA (//%22http://koa.com/where/ca/05224/%22) Found this one tonight and thought I would add it to the list.
bonnie you may want to post this in SCCamper site as well...

yep that's a great Idea.... actually post a link in Socal to this thread so they're no posting in both threads
ha ha checking the rv reviews for these one came up with
"Also people running around constantly in golf carts watching your every move."
" Then I ran into the man in the cart who runs around being very brusque with the customers"
not good for sccampers
ok heres my initial take.
San Lorenzo Park (//%22http://www.co.monterey.ca.us/parks/sanlorenzo_camping3.html%22) - water elec only. Might be issue for some. no pool, no wifi. Pretty trees, nice sites, closer drive fo socal, further from santa cruz area
Wine Country RV Resort (//%22http://www.winecountryrvresort.com/%22) - :)free wifi, cable. pool and hot tub,:( No shade, basically parking lot. Noisey right next to highway, expensive?, snooty managers?....
Monterey Vacation RV Park (//%22http://www.campingfriend.com/MontereyVacationRVPark/%22) - :)full hookups, closer to boardwalk etc, :(no wifi or cable, reviews says lots of full timers, and the Pool is closed?
Casa de Fruta (//%22http://www.casadefruta.com/VISIT_accom.aspx%22) - :)wifi, cable, full hookups, have amusement area for kids:( highway noise,no pool, full timers, have amusement area for kids, no pic's so hard to tell what it looks like
The Garlic Farm RV Park (//%22http://www.thegarlicfarmrvpark.com/rvclubs.html%22) -:) full hookups, cable, wifi, pool hot tub:( no shade,
Hard to choose, they all have advantage disadvantages...
Sorry, but Casa de Fruta has a pool and we heard no highway noise when we stayed there- the area that Bonnie is looking at is a great place for a rally- we would be the only ones-

Nice to hear from someone who has stayed there. That is actually the one I was leaning towards, still not sure though.
does that group area have hookups?
I picked the wine country resort because its closer to San Diego...But would want to go in June as it won't be too hot and there is no shade..but it looks clean and has a pool and I would love to visit all the wine vineards
I have not been to any of these parks but I chose Casa de Fruta because we would have an area all to our selves. Dee and her blow torch and bonfire could glow all night without a problem. Plus we could stay up and talk without being yelled at.
Second choise would be the Wineries RV park because of its location. Close to all the wineries, San Luis Obispo and to Pismo if you want to go to the beach.

not sure I'm going to make the drive this year..They are all too far north except wine country and that could get really hot avg temp's 90. Kids hate pismo beach- too cold and windy...is there a campground map for this place?
what dates?
still on the fence about this one...
I have a campground map that I can scan and post (I have permission to do so) However, there is not a specific map section for the area I would like to book. The private are has water and electric hookups but not sewer. They have a pool and a play area up by the office.
Here is a satellite view of Casa De Fruta.

Bonnie
Thanks for your hard work, but We will have to pass on these choices. We don't want to have to drive all day to get to some of these choices and some are out in the hotter area of Calif. for that time of year.
Thanks again
Brad & Mary
I voted for Casa De Fruta but we will go wherever the group goes as long as it fits in to our schedule--we can't make it the first week of August. We were at Wine Country RV over Memorial weekend and it is in a great location for wine tasting and there is a water park next door. We did see the guy in the golf cart alot checking up on things so there may be a problem if we are a large noisy group.
I've never camped at Casa De Fruta... however having driven by it many times, the majority of the visible sites from the road appear to be an asphalt parking lot... a very large asphalt parking lot. Are you sure the "private" area you are talking about booking isn't part of those areas?
I guess next time I'm down in the area I'll have to give the Casa De Fruta RV area a closer look.
Also keep in mind that it does get hot <> out that way in the summer months.
Casa De Fruta does have a lot of fun shops, and stuff to see though.

do they have a honey wagon? no sewer would limit the length of stay
Bonnie,
At casa De Fruita, does the Hilltop area have flush toilets and showers?
Anyone with a popup needs the toilets and those of us with holding tanks can last a lot longer by taking showers at the campground shower house.
What happened to Smithwoods, (or the resort next door to it)?

WOW! After logging in sporadically during the past two months, I guess if I don't read every post, I might miss the little tiny details!:p
So, which of the new options has a good plumbing system, tolerates a little noise, and likes kids?:D

I called Casa De Fruita a few minutes ago:
They have a clubhouse with a stove, refrigerator, oven, and tables to have potlucks. This would be free to our group. I think there might be a problem with freeway noise in some spots (not sure).
At least 10 rigs is $35.64 per night total.
Glenna:-():eyecrazy::book:
2 story carousel and a train.
Free wine tasting.
Electric, water, wifi, cable, and sewer. Pull thru sites. The sites are designed so that 2 trailers face each other. Asphalt and trees.
No charge for dogs or extra visitors.
the area that Bonnie is looking at for us is not at the front of the park- the area that you are describing is at the front and is a big parking lot- with lots of pavement- and the site do face each other- you should look at the google image and you will see that it is a large area with grass.
I have stayed at this park and the front is just a parking lot-
