I will check into this it sounds fun. I have to see if I can predict kevin's schedule.

how long does it take to get there?

It's almost impossible to take Kevin out of school so getting him there is always a consideration.. right now financially I can't make anymore reservations...It looks pretty available  right now but if you see it filling up maybe you can remind me

If I remember correctly those are some tight spots.  Can't say for sure though.  We used to camp there when we were kids, before they expanded the place into what it is today, when these were the only camp sites.  That would be like a 7 hour drive for us I believe.

Has anyone camped here before in these spots?

Maybe I better call them in the morning and make sure our TT will fit in the spot I picked....Was thinking about changing it anyway.....thanks for the heads up wouldn't be fun to get there and it was so tight Jim couldn't make the turn...Not at all fun.....

Most of the sites are pretty big.  We had a Motorhome next to us one time there so I know there is room.  I think #4 is the only small site, so we can leave that one for Malena.:D

I'm in 5.  :)

This was the first place I camped with SCCampers when I had my pop-up.  It was nice -- large center area where we had our potluck.  Bathrooms were real nice, too.

As I remember, the sites are narrow but long.  Not a lot of room in some of them to just hang out, but that may have just been my site.  Anyway, it's an easy drive from Escondido and there's a really, really good bakery on the way -- Wayne will probably remember the name of it.  And Julian's always a big hit, too.

Oh boy ... I love getting trips on my calendar so far in advance!

Dieter, I've never met peole what kind of rig do they have ;) Dont forget to tell everyone NO noise after 10 and all fires out at 11 ( if they allow fires when your there). This place is really nice, Toni & I like it, the trees where badly damaged but I understand they are going thru another removal session. The bathrooms/showers are clean and the play area for the kids is super, lots of trails to wonder on.

Your post reminds me of a study on the importance of spelling conducted by Susan Jones. [excerpted from Spellingcity.com]:

The Importance of Spelling
by Susan Jones, M. Ed. 2/2009

Spelling over the last few years has been the subject of a commonly mailed piece of Internet ?wisdom.? And I quote:
Aoccdrnig to rscheearch by the Lngiusiitc Dptanmeret at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a total mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

Translation: According to research by the Linguistic Department at Cambridge University, it doesn?t matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be at the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without a problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself, but the word as a whole.

This paragraph has been widely circulated on the Internet since 2003, and it is still referred to, either as a point of interest or to defend inconsistent (poor) spelling, or choosing not to teach it. Is it because it rings of the truth that it makes scholars and educators cringe? Hardly. Among other things, there was no such research, and the words in the passage don?t follow the rule of ?only the first and last words matter.? It?s a myth. It is fluent readers who can figure out this highly predictable text ? and the path to fluent reading includes a firm foundation in the sounds represented by letters and their spelling.

[end of excerpt]

Ant then their our the words that reed out loud ant are spelled correctly, but used improperly, sew that spill cheque doesn't sea ore reed them as wrong. Butt that's a hole other story. ;)

That kind of depends upon what time you are leaving more than anything else. We've left Orange at 3pm on a Friday and it took over 90 minutes to get to the Cajalco exit off I-15 South. (We were heading for Lake Hemet.) The southbound I-15 now closely resembles the eastbound 91 traffic-wise every evening. This per some friends that drive it every afternoon. They live for the 91 Express, but you can't use that with a trailer.

Every once in a while I see someone towing in the carpool lanes or express lanes. Hopefully, not Dee. Usually I see people towing boats, jetskis, or contractors with a small utility trailer. Hey, it's their ticket. And it's going to be a hefty fine if they're caught. Although there is nothing in the vehicle code that specifically forbids towing in carpool lanes (the last time I checked) it is against the vehicle code to tow in the Number 1 Lane, that being the normal traffic lane closest to the  center divider. With most carpool lanes it is impossible to get to them without crossing the Number 1 lane.

Post by: hatlet on Dec 03, 2009, 01:24 PM
When i checked years ago, I was told that you can't have 3 axels in  the carpool lane, also, you can tow a trailer in the 1st 2 lanes from the right, reguardless of how may lanes there are.

Post by: JohnandLeann on Dec 03, 2009, 02:13 PM
oops good to know about that diamond lane.  guess i had better stay way from there in the future while towing

Post by: wavery on Dec 03, 2009, 02:33 PM
In California, all (3 or more axle) trucks and vehicles towing trailers must stay in the far-right lane unless passing. When passing, they can drive in the second lane from the right only and must return to the far right lane after passing.

The CHP will not mess with you if you stick to the #1 or #2 lanes from the right. If you drive in the carpool lane and get caught, there are several violations that may be levied. Speeding (if driving over 55), impeding traffic (if driving 55 or under) and illegal lane change. Any violation in a carpool lane comes with an automatic $341 fine plus any additional violation fines. It could easily cost a driver $600 to drive in the carpool lane, especially if that driver argues his case to the cop as, "It doesn't say that I can't drive in the carpool lane". That's called, "Additional $300 stupidity fine". :p

And those numbers (fines) are before any local "surcharges" and "fees" get tacked on. It's been reported how a cell phone violation (talking on a cell phone while driving) which has a nominal $20 fine can easily add up to $150 or more. Same thing applies for other tickets. The fees can and will more than double the ticket amount. And that's before your insurance company gets notified.

Quote from: Dee4j;213143since I'm already in Santa Ana I thought the 5 south and cut across????

Dieter isn't that the way you would go??

I don't do the 91 after 1pm on fridays :banghead:

When we go to Fallbrook (about twice a month) we go the 5 to the 76 and accross. The only way that I would take the 91/15 route is if the San Onofre power plant exploded :p.

When we go to Julian, we'll take the 5/78 route. 78 goes all the way to Julian. According to Yahoo maps, it's 2 miles farther and 8 minutes longer but that's assuming the 91 is running at 65MPH.... ROFLMAO :J:J

Frome here, we go 10E > 110S > 105E > 605S > 405S > 5S > 78E. How's that for running a Maze? (get it.....a MAZE a little local humor there.. :p.....I've edited this post about 15 times......that'll be a maze for the Maze too.....:p

Hey Guys,
We have a family committment that weekend, so we can't make it. :swear:
On a side note, since a trip into Julian is a must, (Apple Pie w/ cinnamon icecream a la mode - YUMMmmmmm at Julian Pie Company :#) you might want to take the short drive toward Lake Cuyamaca (about 10 miles S. of Julian on Hwy 79) and stop and check out Pinezanita Campground. They're about 4.5 mi out of Julian, just before you get to the Wolf reserve and KQ Camp (timeshare campground). Maybe try a get together sometime at Pinezanita (I know, I suggested that once before, but they do have a curfew on fires and noise that some weren't too thrilled about ) Anyway, it's a nice drive.

Our first trip in a pup was to pinezanita.  Great place but the last night it SNOWED.  Talk about fun.  Oh yeah and that little spot I had before we left, oh that turned into full blown Chicken Pox!!  So here I am with a new rig, in the SNOW with no gloves, with a fever and pox, packing up the trailer.

At least I can always say, its not as bad as Pinezanita (well not yet at least)

So here I am with a new rig, in the SNOW with no gloves, with a fever and pox, packing up the trailer.

At least I can always say, its not as bad as Pinezanita (well not yet at least)

You guys are sure sick a lot

Hey All....:U

We reserved close by site #034 for Friday & Sat. nights. (10/1 & 10/3). There are NO hookups, but it is just a short walk. We will not be using it so it's available to anyone who wants it.
