Title: Camping near Kansas Speedway
Post by: JaycoNewbies on Mar 11, 2010, 11:56 AM
The DH and I are going to a Kansas City Nascar race in October and are having troubles finding campgrounds.  Anybody got any ideas or camp close to the track?

Go to //www.nascar.com   On the top of the page find "schedule"  then "tracks". Click on the track you want and on the left hand side under tailgating click "see more".   It list some of the places to camp close to the track.  We go to alot of Nascar races and always stay within walking distance of the tracks.    Hope this helped........

Keri,

Thanks for the link.  This is what I found:

"All camping spots at Kansas Speedway are on a reserved basis and are approximately 20 x 45-foot spaces. Only self-contained recreational vehicles are permitted to camp.  Tents are not permitted.

There are many campgrounds within a short drive of the speedway, some providing shuttle service."

I did check and pop-ups are not allowed.  Nice.  I have read about the "many" campgrounds within a short drive, but with no luck.  I also go to laidbackracing.com but I don't think that has been updated for some time.

WEll they sound kinda snooty towards us PUP  people.  LOL  Heck even when we had our motorhome we camped primative at the race tracks.  The campground would bring their "honey dipper" trucks along to suck out our black water tanks.  Even filled our fresh water tanks for us for about $20.
