Does anyone have any information on porta potties and what type and brand. also do you have an outside one or inside?
How big should I buy? for around four people.
thanks james
I'm going to go out on a limb, here, and make some assumptions. Assuming you're dry camping in a semi-developed CG (designated sites, but no bath house) and all personal business will be done with your porta-pot at your campsite, you'll probably want one of those small shower tents you can use as a 'privy', to begin with. As for the pot, I would suggest one of those that has a bag hung under the seat. This way, each person takes care of "cleaning up after themselves" and you don't get stuck having to take a tank full of nastiness and have to dump it everyday. With 4 people, the flushable pots will get pretty full quickly .:yikes:
Just my 0.02.
The Thetford (//%22http://www.thetford.com/HOME/PRODUCTS/PortableToilets/tabid/83/Default.aspx%22) brand is considered to be one of the best. I have had one for years and they work great. With its no splash pour-out spout and easy cleaning surface you can not go wrong and they are available just about everywhere. Had the 135 model for years, but just upgraded to the 365 model for the bigger tank and higher seat height.

I agree with Brad. the Thetford 365 will give you 2-3 days with 4 people, easily.
The privacy issue is strictly a "Family thing". Every family has different privacy issues when it comes to this.
Here is the set-up that we used with our PU. It even worked well for an outside shower.

Just a word of warning for those that use a "potty tent" SHADOWS. If you use the tent at night and have a light source in the tent with you, other people will see what you are doing.:o
