We had to cancel our camping to Point Mugu for the weekend of August 19, and I'm looking for another beach site for the prior weekend (August 13). I came across some sites at Morro Bay Strand (which is not the same as Morro Bay S.P.) - but what I'm wondering is....has anyone stayed at Morro Bay Strand? Is it a nice campground with good sandy beach nearby? And good swimming??

Haven't been here but I did look it up and looks like parking lot camping look at Morro Dunes rv and see what you think.....It looks like a better place if you can get in??

You're right - Morro Dunes looks nicer. But what I like about the other is that it's right on the beach...even though it is basically just a parking lot. We may give it a try. The kids really love to be right on the beach. We could set up our easy up on the beach instead of in the parking lot, right??

That is the "Campground". It is literally a parking lot in the middle of a rather ~depressed area. No fences.....no nothing. There may be a reason that there are no reservations booked for that campground in the middle of August.
I don't know......I'm just sayin' "It doesn't appear that it might be a real safe place to spend the night". Then again....appearances may be deceiving. I just thought that I might offer my 2 cents.....
My gut feeling is, once you get there and drive around that neighborhood, you may be looking for the closest CG with an opening.

We will be there tomorrow. I think that we might have Leanna with us. She'd be really excited about that.
We have our trailer parked at my DD's house because we did a "Camp driveway" there last weekend and it is half-way to Doheny from our place. Didn't see much sense in towing it all the way home just to tow it back again in a couple days.

Yes, that's the review I had seen. But if it's in a not so good neighborhood, and there's no fencing or anything, then unless I get a few Scampers interested, I wouldn't want to risk it.
