We are not going to go to far for most of our camping this year, but we wanted to go somewhere for the 4th. All the places I wanted to go on the coast were booked so we decided to go east near Bend, Or. We will go to Tumalo State Park. We have never been there by my Wife's sister lives in Bend so we plan to hang out with them on the 4th.
We will be going to Palisades-Kepler State Park.
Joshua Tree for us, it's one of our favorite parks. It feels like a world away from LA. We should have the camper ready to go this weekend. Things have been so stressful lately I can't tell you how much we are looking forward to this trip.
All the CGs near us will be full of the amateurs who think the holiday weekend means drinking until the wee hours, keeping everyone awake, then crabbing at you and kids in the early morning hours when you make a little noise.
And there's always the one or two that set off their car alarm around 3 AM.
We waited to long to get reservations. We had a list of five places and all were booked. We will just stay home which is fine, It wasn't anything we had to do at any cost.
Oddly enough, I'm already at my 4th of July destination. Saw a story about the 20 top places to see Fireworks in the country, number one being NYC, and 18th on the list was Boston. My location was 12th on the list, Old Orchard Beach Maine!!
We are not going camping this weekend, instead we will enjoy visiting with friends for BBQ. I think I agree with 4Campers, perhaps not the best weekend to be camping.
Back in the 90's we always camped on holiday weekends. Had a nice CG in KY near Land Between the Lakes that we always went to. Owner used to call us if we hadn't made a reservation about two weeks before a holiday.
Yesterday SIL was towing their TT to camp and a wheel bearing blew. They were planning to camp for a week. Not sure if he'll get it fixed today, or if the reservation got cancelled for a no show. Phone call was unanswered.
We'll camp next weekend when it's back to quiet! LOL
