Carefree released their 12V Canopy Cooler Fans with mister about 5 years ago.  They sell for about $70 each.  These are for outdoor use under your awning.

I have stood in front of industrial sized fans with misters in humid southern Georgia on 100 degree days and I truly believe they saved me from heat stroke.  I m talking about a 5 or 6 foot tall fan that was moving some serious air with a lot of mist.

Was curious if anyone has tried one of the Canopy Coolers or knows someone who has one.  You don t always get same results from a miniturized a product as you do from its full size big brother.  At $70 a pop, I would like to hear an unbiased testimonal prior to adding this to my accessory wish list.

Five years on the market is an encouraging sign to me, seems to indicate some consumer acceptance.  Here is a link to a 5 year old press release announcing the products introduction:

 RamblingWreckRamblingWreck,

I don t have any knowledge of the mister type fans, but for a 12-volt fan the [link=http://campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?skunum=21314&src=SRCH&tcode=37]Endless Breeze (click here)[/link] fan, available at Camping World and other places, received rave reviews about a year ago. Some said it moved enough air that they didn t need to use AC in the popup.

topcat7736I have a co-worker, John,  whose next door neighbor has one.  The two family s camp together.  John gives the fan a thumbs up.  Says it works really well to cool you down on a hot day.  The mist is very fine, not enough to realy wet you just cool you.
