This collapsible trash can from Camping World is great!!

We d tried all kinds of things for trash---tying the bag to the tent poles (when tent camping), even bought this plastic trash bag holder thingy that you had to assemble--none seemed to work all that well. We just bought the collapsible trash can prior to the big trip to Charlotte. It s just the right size for a 33-gallon bag. I used small plastic clamps (clothespins would work) to secure the bag to the trash can. We set it just beside the stepper door and it was so handy! Just open the door and throw out the trash. It collapses almost completely flat, so it s very easy to store.

At the price they re offering, I may order a couple more to use around the house or just for spares!

labontefanWe love ours too, works great and stores in tight spots too.  Check Target too, I think ours ran around $5.99 at the end of the season.  Just need another one so I leave it in the camper and stop using it around the house too!

labontefanhow long does it take how many people to fill up a 33 gallon trash bag???

I hate it when they don t have recycling containers and you have to put the cans/plastic/glass into the trash bags.

still, I do like the idea...but I tend to fill one or two of the grocery bags and get rid of them quickly.   but i haven t solved the problem of where and how to attach these bags.

i would compromise and use the Large trash can size, which is about 13 gallons, I think.  Any small collapsible trash cans?  or i guess I COULD use the mesh popup laundry bags.

labontefanI saw MC Camper with that idea back in April. He had two of them - one for trash & one for dirty clothes.
I thought it was a good idea & found a 2-pack at Home Depot for $11.99. One is for a 33-gallon & I think the other is for a 20-gallon bag. Nontheless, perfect idea, collapsible, thus taking up hardy any room for storage. I love cool ideas like that! [:D]

labontefanWe have two like that--that big size and then a smaller size. We got them at Costco and they came as a pair for about 12.00.  The material is really heavyweight and stands up to quite a bit of dragging and other abuse.

Here s a pic of the big size: http://community.webshots.com/photo/69554671/69556119zgiCuM

and the small size (look just under the outside stove):  http://community.webshots.com/photo/68861071/68862718WXwsgm

Man, I hate when I miss a good deal.  I got the small size that holds a kitchen sized trash bag, but it cost $14.  I justified it by it being a Fiskars brand.  I don t want the big size because I want a size that will be emptied at the end of each day and the full bag wont  be too big or heavy for my kids to carry to the dumpster.

I also have a pop-up hamper now for our dirty clothes.  It tucks under the bunk end, though I need to make a bunk-end hideaway to I m not airing my dirty laundry!

labontefanBumping this up, and adding my voice in support for the " Spring Line"  Collapsible Container.

We bought one on a lark at Camping World last week, and it worked great. Big enough so that dirty paper towels can make a *swish* shot (nuttin  but net), and strong enough to fill with empty bottles and not rip. Taking off for the day? Just push it down, slide it under the camper, and it springs up to stay in place without having to worry about anything blowing out while you are gone. I dropped a standard black leaf bag inside to keep it clean.

Think I ll get another one just for Christmas... the extended family s next generation of toddlers will have fun taking all the shredded wrapping paper from the gifts and stuffing it into the bin. [;)]

That is a good idea to keep it in your campsite!

labontefanWe purchased the expanding accordian metal frame collapsible garbage can in the spring.  Once the bag is full you widen the legs up and lift it right off the bag.  Leaving the bag in place.  It folds to about 2" x2" x3.5  and packs easily.  Totally love it.

I really do like the look of these folding cans tho.  Makes for a neat and orderly looking site.

labontefanI thinks these cans are a great idea. I wish they had a cover with them? Has anyone seen one with a cover? It help keep flys and bees away.

labontefanWe got one as a wedding gift last year, and use it in the yard for cleanup, but mainly for weeding the flower beds. It is really nice having a lightweight " can"  next to you, with a big open top to throw stuff into. That is much better than having a handful, and trying to get a trashbag open with the other hand! It actually makes bedweeding much easier!

 Just another suggestion!

labontefanWe ve had one we are using as a laundry hamper for about two years now.  It s taken quite a bit of abuse, and is time to buy another.  The one from Camping World looks a little more sturdy.  Our was basically nylon, with a zipper closing top.  The nylon on the springs is tearing in multiple places, Brian ripped one of the handles off with a heavy load of laundry, etc.

For trash we built our own PVC trash bag stand.  You don t have to pin the bag, it flips over the sides and is held open just like your trash can at home.  Perfect fit for the 30 gallon Hefty trash bag, and breaks down very small.  With the six of us we used to make more than a bag of trash a day, but I switched us to using washable plates, flatware, and cups, and now we just fill the one bag.

We bought this folding " hamper"  from linens and things. It folds to 4 inches square by 29 inches long. I removed the mesh hamper part and you can place any size garbage bag you like over the 4 arms. It will open to the bags width and stay. It worked great!
