All,

I bought this heater about two weeks ago and have been using it off an on. I had heard so much about it in the past as to when it came time to buy one it was up front in the old brain. It is a propane heater with a pilot light that can be turned off by the turning of the switch. This unit can be started by the push of a start button. No matches required.  Two levels of heat are provided and they are 4000, 9000 BTU's. Even thought it said it can be used indoors, I was afraid to do to much with it. With the pilot light lit all the time and exposed I was afraid to just leave it. The dogs always wanted to check it out. It did provide some nice heat in places I could put it in the house. Can not put it on the carpet or near anything that will catch on fire. I had thoughts of using it in the camper but wonder now if it would be safe. This is a nice unit for use in the garage or basement while some one is working. I wish there was a place on the web to check the safety level of items like this. I have not found one yet.

We use our Buddy heater in our camper during our cold weather camping.  I too was concerned about its safety, but now I am comfortable with it.  I still keep a couple of windows cracked to allow fresh air & we have a CO alarm, but I have no hesitation recommending this product.

I recommed purchasing an extension hose to allow you to attach it to a second propane tank.  The little propane tanks just go too fast-about 4 to 5 hours.

In 22 degree weather, we were able to keep the camper about 55 dergees overall.  We also placed it on the floor facing the galley while my son & I played board games and stayed warm enough to not need extra clothing/blankets.

Mr Heater Buddy Heater = Great Product!

I have a Buddy Heater too.  The only thing I don't like about using it in the PU is the condensation that is formed as the propane burns, but that will happen with any propane heater.  When we use it in the PU it is either on the floor near the rear bunk facing the front of the PU or on top of the stove if there is activity in the PU.  I would not sleep with the unit on, even though it has a low oxygen shut off and we have a CO detector in the PU.  If you want to use it at home and are worried about the dogs knocking it over, you can mount it to a wall.  There are little openings on the back to mount it this way. :)
