I am interesed in buying one of the Themos Grill-2-Go's. I have done a search of this forum to see if anyone has posted anything about them and found nothing. Has anyone used one of these, if so did you like it?

I have posted here on the Thermos Grill 2 Go as well as the Coleman Road Trip Grill. Perhaps a seach of the Coleman Road Trip will turn up both!
My experience with the Grill 2 Go was not a happy one. The BTU rating is like 8300 and it takes a while to heat up and cook. Still, I could live with that! Then after about a month it got so the burner wouldn't stay lit unless you propped up one of the plates. Don't ask me (or tech support) why, it's got plenty of vent holes, but just wouldn't stay lit. Then when propped up, the grease would flow down and under the lip rather than into the grease catcher, then the grease caught on fire! I pulled one of the cooking plates off to get at the fire and the whole thing tipped over backwards off the stand. Seems the bottom doesn't weigh enough to counterbalance the lid without ALL the cooking plates in place. That was the final straw! I went out and bought a Coleman Road Trip that very day!
I am not entirely pleased with the Road  Trip. For catching grease, you put water in the drip pan under the grills or griddles. It can be difficult to clean at the campground, and as we camp in bear country, it MUST be cleaned after every use! I like the BTU output. I LOVE the versatility of the Road trip. It comes with a grill and a griddle. I bought another grill and griddle as well as two pieces that fit in their place and turn it into a stove. If they could perfect the grease system, making clean up easier, it would rate a 10, right now I'd rate it a 7 or 8. The Grill 2 Go I would rate a 3 or 4. No versatility as far as changing out cooking plates, little heat output and tippy!
Shop and Compare both!

I have the Coleman Road Trip Grill, and have used the Thermos Grill to Go.

I agree with everything that Gary said about both units. The Grill to Go had a handier grease catcher, however, the BTU output was too low.

The Grease Catch Pan with the Coleman unit is a pain in the neck, however, the high BTU output, and extreeme versatility, is worth it.

We too have the Coleman Roadt Trip grill, along with all the different accessories that turn it into a double sided grill, griddle or stove top. We also have the storage bag with the wheels which makes it easier to move. We take this grill on every tirp and love it! Using both sides as a griddle, I can cook 20+ pancakes in a matter of a few minutes--great for a Saturday morning potluck!

I would agree with everything that Gary and Steve said. As far as the grease problem goes, we just cover the grease pan in foil before we cook and then throw it away when the grease has cooled and set.

FOIL! When was THAT invented???
That's a great idea, now I'm wondering why I didn't think of that!!!
I'm going to try that next trip! Obviously you don't use Foil AND water, or do you? Probably not, that would defeat the ease of throwing it away!
THANKS!

I tried it with foil, and water, and as you note, that didn't help ease the cleanup much.

I've been leary about not using water. The instruction manual kind of cautioned against it, and I presumed the reason might be because grease fires might be more likely without the water. Don't know that for sure though.

One of my friends suggested filling the drip pan with sand. Do you think that might work?

Steve, that was my first thought too, but then I thought that since grease floats, the water actually puts the layer of grease closer to the burners. Plus I believe that the gease could still catch on fire on the water.
I'll try it and keep you posted!

I don't use water--only foil.  As for sand, it seems that would be a messy clean up too.  I will just stick with foil--I haven't had any problem with it..
