We often fish while we are camping, and do a lot of bike riding too. Now we can ride our bikes to the fishing areas, since I ordered Ride-n-Reel Bicycle Mount Fishing Pole Holders for all of our bikes. I was only able to find them online - the best price I found was at SeaSense.com. I paid $13.36 a piece for them plus UPS. We are very happy with them.  Installation is simple - a small plate attaches to the rear axle of the bike, and the pole holder slips into the plate and is held in place by a small cotter pin. The holder can be installed or removed in a matter of seconds. The fishing pole is then held in place with Velcro. We keep the pole holders in a box with our fishing supplies when not in use. It only works with poles with reels attached, and does not accomodate pistol-grip type poles. These can also be mounted on wheelchairs and ATVs. Great product.

MichicampersIt sounds like a useful item.  Do you have a link for it?

MichicampersAfter the second time my son broke a pole swinging his leg over the back to mount the bike we gave up on rear holder and simply started duct taping a short piece of PVC tubing to the front post. Holds any kind of rod and we haven t lost or broken a pole in 10 years.

MichicampersWell that sounds attractive, Mike [;)]. Actually, DH considered rigging something similar to that before I ordered these, but we liked the fact that these were easily removed, especially since our bikes ride on our front-hitch bike rack, and we didn t want to add anything permanent to the bikes that might interfere with loading them. So far, no broken poles [:)].
