I've got a Holmes oscellating heater for mine, with temperature control and a low/high setting.  If it's really cold, I will turn the propane furnace on for a few minutes to jump start the heat, then maintain it with the electric heater, which does do a very good job.

Best of all is the fan is quiet.

Initially, I would wake up every time the blower would start on the furnace and it drove me nuts.  My small ceramic cube heater was almost as loud and didn't circulate the heat well.

I've got my pup open right now and have the electric heater on the low setting just to take the chill off.  When I go out later, I might turn the furnace on while I clean, reorganize.  But, I'm on my last tank of propane and don't want to run out, so.....we shall see.
