A Good Dealer to Use for Service

We've all heard the horror stories of dealer service centers and the poor treatment some people have experienced:
Waiting for ever for the repairs to be completed.
Items missing or damaged upon picking up the rig.
Fighting to get something covered under warranty.
Crazy, high prices.
The list goes on.

Well, this is a report on a dealer service center that takes a different approach. The dealer is Family RV, located in TravelLand on the I-5 freeway in Irvine, CA. Here's the webpage for the service center which has information on what they offer. The service manager's name is Jerry and he can be reached at (949) 551-0130. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with the sales staff and cannot speak about them.

Here's my story:  In December I called to schedule the Dometic fridge recall work. I was told I'd have to drop it off and leave it for a few days. No big deal. I drove down and was told, "don't un-hitch....we're going to do it right away." Less than 30 minutes later and I was on my way home.

Fast-forward to early February. Getting ready to head out on our first trip in way too long. Hadn't even been in the trailer since the fridge recall work. Imagine my thoughts when the fridge would not start. Wouldn't start on gas or electric.

Well, I jumped to the (erroneous) conclusion that the dealer had screwed something up in December. Got them on the phone and got the expected, "if you can bring it in next week...." Told them we were trying to head out of town. They responded that we should bring it in on our way out and they'd look at it and do what they could.

Packed everything up (food in coolers...thought we bought a trailer to get away from that!) and headed down. The manager, Jerry, put a tech on it as soon as we pulled up. The tech found the annoying little blown fuse in less than 5 minutes. (Insert smiley of me with egg on face here.)

Anyway, in conversations with Jerry he assured me that it is there mission to keep us all on the road and happy with our RVs, doing whatever it takes. So if you are local to SoCal, or even if you are passing through on a trip, if you need service give them a call and ask for Jerry. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the outstanding level of service you'll receive.

BTW, Jerry assured me that they service all makes and models and are certified to do warranty work on almost all manufacturers.
