Calstate361So, any NNCers running for Governor?  [8D]

Congrat s. on the construction completion!

 Abbear -
Sounds like you had a great time!  Thanks for all of the reviews in the campground section.  We just might head up that way in the near future.

 Nick -
Hope you are having a great time (even though you won t see this til you get back, lol).

 AbDiver -
We want pictures of you in your outfit, haha.

 Dave/Champ -
I wish the balance on my mortgage was low enough to have a $700.00 payment!  Enjoy it while you got it.

Well, we just returned from a quick but gorgeous trip to Yosemite.  In a word; CROWDED!!!!!  Although, I consider myself lucky for having found a reservation back in March right after Snug Harbor when Larry/Sammy Slave got the whole group to change the dates on me even though I had already paid my deposit, lol!  J/k Larry.
We stayed at Lower Pines cg in Yosemite valley.  We were packed in like sardines!  Did I say the park is crowded?  What a beautiful place Yosemite is (we hiked to Vernal Falls and did all the other touristy stuff), but I think we prefer the Sierra s.
I ve got to get the PU put away and ready for work (blahh!) tomorrow, but thought I d pop in.  Did some serious driving the past few days and it is nice to be home.

Now I get top look forward to our next (local) trip in just 10 days.  We re staying close so Amy can get ready for work and join us each afternoon which is why we couldn t make Yosemite with everyone.  I m sure it would have been much more enjoyable with all of you along with us.  Would have made the shuttle buses more enjoyable as well.
Our next trip will be a PU working w/e too.  I m going to once-and-for-all fix that damned galley drawer with new slides!  Also, I need to get some super glue and re-attatch some of the velcro on the PU frame for the screen room skirt as it is starting to peel away in some spots.

Also returned to great news that the G3 (electric guitar heaven with Joe Satriani leading the charge) tour dates are out and tix go on sale this Sunday for the Concord show in October.  Can t wait!  It s the w/e after the " I Scream"  rally.

 Kevin/Margaret -
You should know that Seacliff is tied for first (with French Meadows) on our list as the best trips so far this year!  We still can t get over what a cool place that is and how lucky you are to live so close to it!  Of course, being with your family actually gives it a slight edge over French Meadows.

Looking forward to the Tahoe rally!

Wouldn t the money CA is going to spend on the recall go better towards say, schools or something like that?  What a joke!  And no, I m not happy with Beige Davis  record, but the whole thing is a joke.  Maybe a good businessman like Peter Uberoth (sp.?) isn t such a bad idea?

Ther were 3 TrailManor s from Nevada in our cg.  They were all friends who only camp together, but thought camping groups (like ours) were annoying and demanding, lol!  Needless to say I didn t try and convince them otherwise that our group is different.
Where have you been lately btw?  Are you getting the e-mail s a certain 9 year-old has been sending you?
He goes for the next 1/2-step towards a Black belt this w/e.  If he passes, he ll be one testing away which should happen in November.

We will be heading to Havre for a family reunion.  Up through Boise, over Lolo pass into Missoula, over to Choteau and on up and across the high line into Havre.  I haven t been up there in 25 years, will be interested to see what s changed.  My dad was from Lewistown - we will go through there on the way back.  Should be fun!

 Jeff,

Yep, they can be that way (stuffy) I mean, It is their loss! I probably converse with them on the TrailManor site anyhow.
I did get an email from my little Civil War buddy, he answered my question and I owe him one.  I will have to wish him well this w/e, although I am sure he will pass with flying colors.
I have been doing this and that around the house.  I was trying to get the 500 miles on the Tahoe so that I can get away and camp soon...but then a great opportunity came up, I will be driving down to do a reenactment in Huntington Beach over Labo(u)r Day, that will get some miles under the beast in a hurry.
Anyhow, glad that you and the family had a great time in Yosemite, and tell Amy that I m sorry the summer flew by and she must now return to the rigors of the classroom.

Take care and give my best to the rest.

champ521Abbear, sounds like a LONG trip.  I don t remember going to Missoula very much.  When my Uncle lived there before he died I was a youngster.  One trip both my sister and I were sick with colds and going over the Lolo pass burst our eardrums.  Needless to say, my Mom had her hands full.  Another trip was when I was 16 and learning to drive.  My Dad had me driving in the mountins headed to Missoula and I got soooooo scared [&:] with all the curves.  My Mom finally told me to stop the car and made my Dad take over.  She was so mad  [:@] at him for making me do that. It wouldn t have been so bad in a smaller car, but we had a Chrysler, Newport.  We used to call that car " the tank" .

When we drove to Montana from Sacramento, we always went as far as Jackpot, NV (the first day) and parked in the Cactus Petes lot.  They have a large gravel/dirt area that RV s/trailers, deisel trucks, etc. can park for the night in and they don t charge anything.  Of course there are no hook-ups so it is dry camping, but for one FREE night, it s OK.  I guess they figure people will go inside the casino to play or eat and make their money that way.  From there we would go through Idaho, the tip of Yellestone and arrive in Bozema, MT around 3:00 in the afternoon.  We would spend the night there and then go on to the Farm.  It usually worked out nicely for us.

Have a safe trip.  Those Montana drivers do strange things. [;)]  Be sure to watch for your exit signs closely because if you miss one you have to drive for miles before you can get to the next exit and turn around.

I m sure you will have a lot of fun, especially since it is a family reunion.

Wow!  I guess I missed the announcement that you got a new TV.  You should do well with the 5.3 liter engine.  My folks have a Tahoe (an  01 I think) which I drove a few weeks back and was really impressed.  Congrat s.!
The TrailManor triplets weren t stuffy at all.  Just kind of stuck to themselves and stayed inside their rigs most of the time they were at the cg.  A far cry from the TrailManor scene I m used to with you and Veronica kicking back so comfortably outside your rig welcoming anyone who walks by to chat a while.  Different strokes for different folks is all.  What struck me funny was that all 3 of them will only camp with the other 2 (none of them has ever camped any other way), but they thought camping groups were silly, lol.  I said hello each morning and they were very friendly back, but that was all the interaction they wanted which was their right after all.
I am glad to hear you have found some more re-enactments since Gettysburg fell apart.  Huntington Beach huh?  Be sure to say " gnarly dude"  each time a fellow soldier is " killed" .  My Mom went into labo(u)r with me while walking the Huntington Beach pier back in  66.  I must have seen all of the bikini s and wanted out, ha.
After a few months with the kids almost 24/7, Amy is actually ready for some adult interaction with her fellow teachers.  We have had/are having a great summer though as we always try to do.  Besides good benefit s, summer s off is the great thing about teaching.  Cause it sure isn t the pay, lol!

champ521

Civil_War_BuffGot me a new TV, too!  03, 1/2 ton Chevy crew cab. Finally got the go ahead to get rid of that damn Dodge. DW wanted an Avalanche but I vetoed her vote and finally got my truck.

6Quigs

champ521Congrats on the new truck Dave.
Good idea to veto her vote. If you got the Avalanche she probably would always want to drive it. Now in protest she ll never want to drive the Chevy 1/2 ton [;)][;)]

Hope you will have done over 500 miles in it before towing the Bayside to Yosemite,[:o] Looks like you ll have to cruzing this weekend to build up the miles[8D]

champ521

Civil_War_BuffI ve had it for one week now and already have put one thousand miles on it! Not too thrilled about the gas mileage but I m loving everything else about it. Took it to the Coleman dealer today to have the brake controller put in and get a new hitch with a 2"  drop.

Ab Diver

Civil_War_BuffHehehehe, I can see it now-- fade in at the champ521 household:

Dave: Hon, I m going to fill up the truck so we re ready for the truck s first camping trip. There s still 3/4 tank, but that ll be one less detail to deal with.

DW: Ok, see you in half an hour or so...

(hours and hours and hours go by)

 Dave: Hon-neeeeey, I m Hoo-oome!

DW: Dave, where have you been?

Dave: Well, the truck still had the factory fuel in the tank. You didn t want me to mix the old gas with the new gas, did you?

Fade out as Dave gets *what-for* from SWMBO. [;)]

 Civil_War_BuffGreetings from the great Northwest!
Yes, we are still kicking around in Oregon.  We had a great time on Vancouver Island.  Eagles, Eagles everywhere.  You can imagine how excited Lon was.  Then we did 6 days in WA including Mt St Helen s.
Now we are with family again in OR and head back to CA in the morning.  We will meet our daughter and family at a campground in the Smith River area for a few last days before heading home.  Should be home by Wednesday night; as my babysitting duties begin on Thursday at the crack of dawn.  It will be one day shy of 4 weeks in the ole PU and it has certainly served us well.
With each trip we learn so much!  Lon is now convinced that we need a back up battery so we can do more dry camping. So many of these hook up campgrounds are too noisey and too crowded.  On the other hand how remote can we get with a Nissan van and PU.  But we would have more options.
Just wanted to say hello to everyone and send my hugs.  I will read the back pages and write again when we get home.
Oh! I have to tell you about Sadie.  She is so used to camping with the group that as we would pull into a site she would start looking around for all her friends human and canine.  After a week or so of being dissappointed in that endeavor she now just gets out and looks dejected![:(]   We are eager to see her reaction when she finds  2her  grandgirls  and her buddy Moe (DD s dog).

Obviously you have not test drove a new vehicle lately. There was barely enough gas in any of the ones we drove last weekend to get them to the gas station. They all had their gas lights on. I don t know if it s a security precaution or a money saving thing. I do know that if gas sits too long it will lose oxygen (octane rating). My first trip in it was a trip to the ball park with the fellas. Much more back seat room than that Durango.
