We are looking to trade in out 99 Coleman Mesa for a new Rockwood. (specifically, the 2405 SS).  We like the slide out sofa, which would greatly add to interior space. Having spent well over 100 nights in the Mesa, we are obviously Coleman biased, but the Rockwood seems to offer a lot more for the money, and the quality seems comporable.

Any one have any thoughts on Rockwoods? Good or bad, we would love to know. Any thoughts on how to get the best price?  Our local deal is pricing this model at @ $9900.

We purchased a new Rockwood pop-up in 2000.  From the first time we camped in it we hated it.  It just seemed like everything in it was made from cheap materials.  The door gave us problems from the beginning and the two of the four jacks got stripped after about 3 uses (we only camped in this camper about 8 times).  Plus the pull out couch was hard to get the leg down under it for support to sleep on and the plywood under the bed was really cheap and not very sturdy, and lets not mention the thin mattresses, in which you felt all plywood when you slept.  Granted, these are minor flaws - but they are irritating, and for a new camper we didn't want to deal with this stuff.  After 2 seasons, and the last straw of 2 flat tires on one trip we sold the Rockwood and got a Coleman.  I would recommend a coleman camper any day - they are made so much better.   We absolutely love our 2002 Coleman Bayside camper.  It's so much easier to set up too.  My husband and I knew from the beginning we should have bought a coleman, since when we were younger our families both had colemans that lasted forever.  Trust me, skip the Rockwood and go with the Coleman.

I will be in a much better position to answer soon...I am picking up a 2006 Rockwood 1610 this Saturday.  I have been waiting for the AC, brakes, and dual LP tanks to be installed.  From my inspection of all makes available, it seemed to be the best value, and the floorplan fits my needs. The finish and detail of the construction impressed me more than the competitors, and the dealer was helpful in answering all my questions.  It amazes me how many dealers don't even return phone calls when you call to inquire about purchasing a new popup.  No wonder sales of popups have fallen so much in recent years as the dealers don't seem to want to mess with them!

I've had a Rockwood 1950 since October & am still amazed at it.  Had it out recently with a large group & they couldn't believe all the things my little 10' box contained (specifically shower & toilet), that it came with a carefree awning, and the sand pads.  Just got it back today from having AC installed, and during the inspection of it, was amazed at how quickly it cooled the interior down.  Rockwood's lift system has a lifetime guarantee and doesn't use miles of cable.  That's a big plus in my book.  Many come pre-wired for AC if you've a mind toward that.  While I don't have a slide-out, I'm more than satisfied with all the features Rockwoods have.  And as I've cruised the boards since purchasing it, haven't found too many negatives about them.  I think there will always be people who aren't happy with whatever they buy, so my advice is to find a floorplan you like & a deal that's willing to work with you.  Whatever you get, enjoy it!

We bought a new Rockwood almost 10 years ago, and overall have been very happy with it.  We bought from a dealer who was going out of business and there were no other dealers close, so for service we have dealt directly with the nice people at Forest River for any problems.  One consistent problem was with the Norcold refrigerator..went through 3 of them before coming up with a winner.  Another complaint is that the tent material shrinks a little when it cools, leading to splitting three of the plastic windows.  When we had the windows repaired (by a boat cover maker) he added a little tuck in the new ones and there has been no problem since.  We ordinarily dry camp and have dragged the trailer over many, many miles of rough, rocky, rutted roads with no apparent adverse effects.  Good luck with whatever you choose.

I also just received a package from UPS on Friday and it was Gourmet Cookies that the dealer sent.

My experience at this dealer was great and I plan to recommend them to anybody that needs a good reliable dealer. most of my deal was done by phone even putting a deposit on it.

Aaron McGee was my salesman as well on our 1610.  I have sent him two referrals in the last week, as we were treated very well.  The cookies were great!

Hi there.
We owned a Rockwood 1940 ltd for almost 5 years.
It was a 2001 model purchased in Aug of 2000.
Never had a problem with it.
Fit and finish was great.
We finally traded for a Hybrid this year.
But I really miss our little Rocky.
Was great to tow.
Never leaked even when it rained for 5 days straight.
Cant say anything bad about it.
Have a great time in your new Rockwood.
Our family sure did.

Hey that's the same Rockwood we have - Oh ya!! Does yours have the extended box on the front with the pull out box? We love ours!!!!

We have a 01 1908 and love the rockwood.
We looked at Coleman and the dealer laughed about us wanting a furnace in a pop up. The rockwood had it already installed and a lot better price than the Coleman . I realy like the tinted windows to

sacrawf

Yes, and we got it with the brakes, fridge, furnace, AC.  We really love it so far, but only out 2 weekends so far due to wife being injured with a broken foot. (We were supposed to be camping all this week in Arkansas).

Only thing that I didn't get was dual LP tanks as the camper did not come with the internal vented battery box, and there was no where else to move it to put the second tank.
