The Memory Maker

Month has been changed. Please read recent posts.[/color]
Well I guess it s time for The Memory Makers to start thinking about wagonmastering a rally, so here s this for an idea. Tahoe Valley campground (private) is a personal favorite of ours that goes back to our tenting days.Located in So.Lake off Hwy 50 it has full hookups with the campsites among pines with the Truckee river running beside it. Lake Tahoe is approx 5 miles away and Stateline approx 6 miles. The campground even has a shuttle stop for the trolley to the casinos. Yet this is a very family oriented campground.
I was thinking of possibly the weekend of 7/3-7/6 since the holiday falls on a Friday this Summer.
Haven t contacted anyone @ the campground yet. Just thought I would throw the idea out here and see what happens

Red neff Barchetta

The Memory MakerScott & Gen. - That is a terrific idea!  I ve wanted to check that place out for a while now.
Unfortunately, we are busy that w/e.  Don t change because of us though, we re already full for 3 July w/e s.
Also, having lived in Grass Valley/Nevada City in the late 80 s (man, I m getting old) I thought I would mention something regarding Tahoe & the 4th. of July;  From the 3rd. to the 5th. of July, all 3 main arteries from CA into Tahoe (50, the road past Squaw Valley, & the road past Northstar) are totally jammed with people trying to get to and from Tahoe.  The fireworks over the lake are pretty spectacular and everyone wants to see them.  You should be fine if you arrive on the 3rd. & depart on Monday the 7th. though.
Again, I haven t been there for the 4th. in about 14 years so things might have improved.  Just thought I would mention it so trying to get home on Sunday isn t a nightmare.

The Memory MakerDing, ding, ding...we have a winner..my four favorite pastimes, camping, cooking, drinking and gambling, Whoo-hoo..Mike and I will be in heaven. And Rita gets to save my bacon playing the slots.

The Memory Maker

 The Memory MakerJeff-
I realize that things may be tight because of the closeness to the gold rally.
 Perhaps another weekend in July??
 Any Suggestions??

Red neff Barchetta

The Memory MakerScott - We re out for July and early August so please don t use us as a guage.  We will be camping with family in Placer county in late July though, so if you all are in Tahoe then, we can drive up Saturday for a rousing visit and of course some of Larry s gourmet grub.  I ll pass a few bucks your way to throw down on the roulette wheel for me.  I ll split the winnings with you even.

The Memory MakerBoy that Jeff guy is a wet rag!!
Tahoe over the 4th of July weekend sounds just great.
And we are starting to plan it early enough. so hopefully they are not booked up yet.
Yes I am sure Tahoe will be jammed with people over the weekend,
and getting home on Sunday will be a mess,
but no worse than coming home from a ski weekend, and having to put chains on[: (]
 Scott,
Thanks for taking the lead on this,
and it is 4 weeks after our Gold Country Rally, so we will be ready for another get together.
 Sign us up for it.

SactoCampers

The Memory MakerCount us out [:(]. We have a block party every 4th of July so we ll be doing that. But the fireworks at Lake Tahoe are fun to watch, especially from the South Shore beach. But don t reschedule on our account. We have other camping plans later that month.

We have new members coming on board all the time, (as well as some insanely committed members![8D]) so surely it will be a success!

The Memory Maker[:(][:(]  Boo Hoo:  We can t make it either.  July 4th = DS-I-L s b day and a block party  AND a family camp trip...  [8D]  hmm : but if we talked the kids into Lake Tahoe....hmmmm  I ll see what I can do.  But my best guess at this point is a very teary No![:(]

At first glance I read that as " insane new members"  and wondered if he meant me, LOL!  (dh is too sane; must be me.)

This group sure plans a lot of rallies!

The Memory Maker

The Memory MakerGlad to see there is some interest in this rally. Spoke to someone @ Tahoe Valley Campground today who was very welcoming and will be sending a packet of info soon. TVC also has a complimentary shuttle from Caesar s( did I spell that right?) that picks up campers right at the entrance. The trolley I mentioned earlier is $3.00 for a roundtrip ride.  The Memory MakerThis one sounds good!  Do we send funds to you or deal with the campground directly?

RTurner

The Memory MakerYippee-this seems to be a nice campground.  We just drove through there this weekend on our Non-trailer (boooo!) run up the mountain.  Many of the sites are snowed in still but the few we could drive by looked good.  We put this on our list of places to go, SO count us in.

Cottonwooder

The Memory MakerAccording to MapQuest, the Gold Rush rally venue is 400 miles/7 hours away from Ventura.  Tahoe is 500 miles/9 hours away!!!!  Darn, we d love to join you folks, but there s just no way with distances like that.  (How many times can a 3yo say " Are we there yet?"  in 9 hours?)   [:(]

SactoCampers

The Memory MakerSounds like fun. Count in the Sactocampers at this point at least.

BTW, Scott, you gotta come up with something catchier than " South Lake Tahoe Rally"

 BORING

Expectations are high and we trust you won t disappoint. You can always solicit suggestions. [;)][8D]
