I searched and did not see a specific product review for this system here on PUT.

I did a lot of research, and decided to go for the PETT potty and tent to use with our Pup.  Cabela's had pretty much the best price, although you could save a dollar or two buying it through Amazon.  I preferred to pick it up in person, which is a great excuse for making a trip to Cabela's (in Hamburg, PA).

Since we only got this system on Saturday 29 March, this is only a first impression review, as we have not "tested" it on a trip yet.  I will post a follow-up when we do.

The potty system is great.  It is small, sturdy and very easy to set up.  It's height is pretty much standard, so you do not feel like you are sitting on the ground.  Flip out the three legs, put the bag in, and you are ready to go.  This system is certainly not the cheapest way to go, but everything has compromises.  Check out the details at The PETT web site if you are not already familiar.

The tent is a very well designed piece with an extremely easy to set up support system.  Setup took literally 60 seconds, and this was the very first time I had ever touched one.  Disassembly was probably on the order of 90 seconds.  The pole system is all self contained, and the tenting is all permanently attached to the pole system.  There are no parts to lose.  It does come with standard tent tie downs for windy conditions.

The interior of the tent is plenty large enough for "average" sized people (I am 5'-10").  Taller or wider than average may feel a bit cramped.  There is room to leave the PETT potty in the tent while showering.  The upper portion has a flap to allow routing of the shower head hose and a loop to hang it from.  I would NOT try and support a large water bag from the tent, however.

The potty came with three WAG bags, and we bought a 12-pack as well.

Again, this is not the cheapest solution, but one that my wife was comfortable with, and that was the deciding factor!

Post up with any questions and I will do my best to answer them.

Did you ever use it? If so, what were the results.

Not yet.  We leave tomorrow for our second trip of the year, but may not need it.  I will post a follow-up when we have some "experience" with it  ;)

As promised, here is my update on the PETT porta-potti and tent.

We have used it twice in the last month.  The setup gets thumbs up from my wife, my mother, AND my mother-in-law!  The first time setup was when we tested out "Grandma's camper" up in our field.  That was just one night.  We used it again this past weekend up in Four Mile Creek State Park during our Niagara Falls visit.  Three nights and days.  We actually only needed 1 bag per day.  It was ideal for the middle of the night visits for my mother-in-law, as the bath house was a substantial distance from our site and was not safe for her to walk to at night (uneven ground - she's 77).

The tent setup is quite easy, as is the potti.  The inner bag is a bit large, so getting it to tuck in neatly under the seat is a bit of a challenge, but is not a critical issue at all.  We hung a battery powered lantern inside for night use, and that was great.  We are very glad we bought it, despite the relatively high price.  For us it was worth it.

Hope this helps others.  Feel free to post questions that I may not have answered.

With the lantern on inside the tent, could you see shadows from the outside?:)

Hi Tracy.

Actually, no, you do not wind up in a shadow pupper theatre with the light on  ;) .  We hung it up at the top of the tent from a loop provided for a shower head.  That way all the shadows are below.  The tent material is also of a reasonably high density, so opacity is pretty good.  We had no privacy "issues".

When we use it without my M-I-L along, we will probably set it up a little farther away than we did at 4MCSP.  In order to give mom an easy route in the middle of the night, we set it up right at the corner of the awning next to the rear bunk.  That way the porch light was adequate for her to see clearly to the tent (and back).

LOL that is good.  I have seen people use tents and porta potties that did not realize they were making shadows.  I have seen the same thing in PU bunkends.:D
