Hello.  I just saw this new product on Cabela's website..Shelter Logic Quick Clamp canopy....and am wondering if anyone has one.  It seems like a great idea, but I'm concerned about it's ability in heavy rain.  It is 10x7 and clamps right onto your picnic table.  Thanks for any input.

seems like a nice idea   is this the one canopy  For the money I would rather buy (I have) an EZ-up and be able to put the shade anywhere I want it. plus an EZ-up is cheaper.

I almost forgot  :compumad:  Hello and welcome to PUT  :D

Welcome Medusa to PUT  :sombraro:  I would have to agree with recumbentman and say go with an EZ-up, some of the more expensive ones have side curtins that you attach to block sunlight from the side. I don't think that one from Cabela's would last long in the rain or wind (not that an EZ-up would last that much longer) of course you could just redneck it and tie a tarp up between trees (been there done that).  AzRon

I've tried the EZ-UP and found it worked very well if two persons are setting it up or taking it down.
Normally when I go camping I go by myself for the first day and my wife comes one day later.  This give me time to setup camp and not feel rushed.  Putting up the EZ-UP by myself is a job because I usually put it over the picnic table.  If it storms, I have to take it down.  EZ-UP doesn't do well in a heavy rain.

The last few years I've be using an offset unbrella over the picnic table.  I've found this more manageable for one person.  If it rains, I just crank it down.  The down side is its size.  You need a truck to carry it.  Another problem with it is stability.  I usually need three are more ratch straps tied to nearby trees to keep it from tipping over.

I've just ordered the SHADELOGIC QUICK CLAMP CANOPY from NorthernTool.com for 69.99.
Shipping was free because I'm having it delivered to a local store.
I will let you know how it works after it arrives.

The SHADELOGIC QUICK CLAMP CANOPY came in a few days ago.  The framing attaches and goes up easily.  The canopy is a different story.  Unlike an EZ-UP, the canopy must be attached to the framing using pockets and Velcro on the material.  It does provide shade but in windy or rainy conditions the canopy should be removed.  I believe high wind or heavy rain would rip the canopy or bend the framing poles.  Of course the same could be said of an EZ-UP in bad weather conditions.  The QUICK CLAMP CANOPY comes with its own carry bag.  There is no way all the equipment will fit in this small bag.  This product is easier to setup for one person but for two people the EZ-UP would be better.

My wife really liked the concept of the Quick Clamp Canopy.  Thanks for posting your experience SJS.

Today we ordered a 10x10 EZ-Up from the Bargain Cave at Cabelas.  :D

Rain would be the least of your concerns. Picture that thing in a thunderstorm's microburst.
