This camping season started wet.  Not just wet, but soggy, uh oh there's water inside my trailer wet.

After sitting (uncovered for the last season) for a couple of months, I knew it was time to get our unit, a 2001 Jayco Kiwi 23B, ready for the season.  I unlocked it, and began taking inventory of what was there and what needed to be fixed or upgraded before we took it out.  During the inspection I found it...the water damage.  No longer was this a happy day.

Luckily, the damage was very limited and only in one area (the top front left storage compartment).

I climbed uptop, and found the demon location.  I stripped off all the old sealants, using a plastic putty knife, and repaired it with one single strip of 4" Eternabond tape.  It went on effortlessly.  After it was on, following directions, I pressed it in nice and tight in and around the seam (the seam between the roof and the curved metal section) and at the corners.

This weekend we went to Conneticut (see my campground review) and Saturday night it rained hard.  No leak.  I can't say enough good about Eternabond.

I will tell you, do NOT order it online from the website (eternabond.com), instead find the nearest dealer (not Camping World..too expensive).  I went to a homebuilder and they had 50' rolls at half the price of the website and Camping World. (50' for $50 vs 37' for $84).

Don't forget to check your seams every year!

During my big roof repair on our '87 Starcraft Nova, I went right down the center seam with a wide strip of Eternabond, and then caulked the edges of the tape with that self leveling RV roof caulk.........and then came back and repainted the entire roof to match the original color.  Been about a year now and so far, so good.

But I store the camper inside one of those silver portable "garages" that Harbor Freight sells.  Figured after all of my work, and after all of that damage, I want the roof and the rest of the camper to last.

I've got mine under a 24' tarp from Harbor Freight right now.  I've ordered a cover for the winter months.

I think I'll follow your lead and seal the edges with that self-leveling caulk.  Just sounds like a good thing to do
