MtnCamperWell the snow has melted and spring is here!  I tried my new coffee maker on our [link=http://www.popuptimes.com/members/tm.asp?m=17934&p=1&tmode=1]first trip of the season.  [/link]

The first discovery I made was that the Coleman coffeemaker does not fit on the high pressure LP stove on the outside of my Santa Fe.  You have to remove the stove grate (not a big deal) and the coffeemaker will " bridge"  over the flame nicely.

My first suggestion is to take that neat little bag of coffee they give you and toss it in the trash.  Lousy coffee in my opinion!

The coffeemaker works well, if just a little slower than my Mr. Coffee at home.  Using good coffee grounds, it makes good coffee, but a bit on the cool side for my taste.

I still consider it a step above the coffee bags I was using.

MtnCamperI nearly bought one at Walmart this weekend, but then decided to hold off til my first trip. Now I m thinking I won t need it?

Hhmmm............... " but a bit on the cool side for my taste."
The more I think about it, the whole advantage to a drip coffee maker, is keeping the coffee HOT. I don t imagine, leaving the stove on... would be a good idea?

Sounds like my current system will still work the best, and take up alot less space and $$$$.  I saved a removeable coffee filter tray from an old coffee maker, and boil water run it through the filter & coffee, and let it pour into a thermos.
Basically does the same thing and even stays hot. The only disadvantage is I have to pour the water through slowly, but I usually stay and watch waiting for the first cup anyway.[&:]

I really did get a good laugh at Walmart though, on the box, it boasts how it not only makes coffee. But it also makes great instant soup, hot chocolate, and instant cider. (Oh really!! I never though of that? but then does any old pot also do that?)

MtnCamperReally curious about this coffeemaker and anxious to hear more reviews from users.  Seen this unit on shelf at Loveland, CO Walmart for $34.88 last week.

MtnCamperAnother option is a Melitta coffeepot.  I just got one for Christmas for my PU and I used it this weekend.  You have to pour hot water into the top, so there is the added step of boiling water (from the sink isn t hot enough for my taste).  But I have a teapot I always take for hot chocolate and such, so it heats in a matter of minutes, so it s no big deal to me.  Anyway, it made great coffee.  Only thing I learned is it s  helpful to run hot water in the carafe before making the coffee to preheat it.  It keeps the coffee hotter longer.

Those coffee teabags have an acidy taste.  This is a better option.

Check out Melitta s Online Store at Melitta.com.  It s under Gourmet or Manual coffeemakers.

MtnCamperI bought mine last weekend. I tried it out at the house and it works great. Made the DW happy. When dry camping she needs her coffee NOW!

MtnCamperI too have purchased one. Works great in my opinion. no coffee grounds in my coffe like a percolator, is initially a little cooler than an electric but you can leave the flame on a bit to keep the coffe warm and it will warm up. Is pretty quick especially compared to a 12V that takes 45 minutes for 10 cups. I do agree the bag of coffee that they provide sucks. Also I bought a permanent filter for mine. Does not fit well, stick with the paper ones. I got mine at Wally world for 34.00 after watching someone on Ebay pay 67.00 at auction. Some people just do not shop before they buy lol. Anyhow, I do not think that any of you will be dissapointed if you purchase

Camping CoxesThis review is a little late, but in case someone else wants an opinion....

I saw the coffeemaker in Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago. My friend, Debbie, that I camp with is a " coffee-holic" . She doesn t function well till after her first pot or two! Since we started tent camping in 1997, she s been trying to find a good solution for making a good cup of coffee. She used the coffee bags for a long time, then she tried a French press, then went back to the coffee bags. Last year, she decided to learn how to make coffee with a old-fashioned percolator on the propane stove. That worked pretty well, except it took a long time...she d have a cup made with the coffee bags while waiting for the pot to perc!

I went ahead and bought the coffeemaker and gave it to her as an early birthday present. We took it to Martinsville with us about two weeks ago. We used it on both the inside stove and the outside stove on the Utah. As tim5055 mentioned, we did encounter a problem with it fitting over the grates over the burners. And, as he mentioned, we discovered they could be removed pretty easily. Once we did that, it fit just fine on either stove, and made great coffee!

I think it was a great investment--especially if you travel with a coffee addict!  LOL!!
