It looks like PUT will be up to 500 members soon. At the end of January is when we broke the 400 member mark. I m really glad to see it growing. I hope that some of the missing members gang from the old PUT board will someday join in on the fun here. There are certain members that contributed quite a bit of knowledge and are missed, like Oz and us, Bluesman, geodude, bigdogMI, beerbelly, luvourjayco, Fairview2001, etc.... I can t remember all the names, if I have them correct. . . or even if they were some of the people who were upset about the changes here at PUT, but I do remember that they had some interesting posts.
Gamecock CamperStopher, interesting that you brought this up. I dropped by IRV2 looking for ideas for the DIY screenroom/AAR and noticed that a recent PUT topic has sprung up there again. Some of the same old discussion about the PUT board, magazine, etc., etc. although there were some supporters among those who post at both. Seems there are still some bitter folks out there.
Gamecock CamperLife is way too short to hold bitter feelings. What most people don t really realize is that the bitter feelings usually hurt them more than the people they are trying to target. I have learned over the years that you have to pick your battles and some things you just have to let go of and move on. I still genuinely wish that some of the former PUT members would join this message board again. The current group is great, don t get me wrong..... but I have always enjoyed hanging out with the WHOLE gang.
Gamecock CamperI hereby prohibit listing the number of members as it is always wrong, now it is 485 [:D][:D][:D][:D]
Gamecock Camperbirol, you are wrong again. It is 486. (And that s good news)
Gamecock CamperWell, I came back. I did not leave mad or anything. I was slowing down for some reason after I got my 3rd popup on the old board. When I heard that there was going to be a charge I was not sure what I was going to do, I had never paid for any site on the net. Then my wife gave me thia as a gift. I was able to keep my old screen name but I guess I missed out on being a charter member, oh well I am here anyway.[:D][:D]

Gamecock CamperWelcome back to the pack :)

Some real harsh words were said when the announcement was made and I m not sure if those who were offened will be able to put it behind them. I really hope they do. I miss some of the great exchanges that took place however I am really happy to be part of this board and look forward to seeing it continue to grow.
I will be camping with a Oz, luvourjayco and luvmyjayco, geodude, trillium, kiwicrazy, Don, 3&acat and a lot more in early May. I know I will have nothing but positive comments about how compfortable and family like it is on PUT.

Gamecock CamperTammy, make sure that you say hello from all of the others still here at the PUT board. Let them all know that the PUT door is always open for them to join us again someday. I think many people would agree that it would be nice to see them " come home" to PUT again.
Gamecock CamperI ve been to the other main 2 message boards and while I was as surprised as anyone else about the fee, I paid it right away. I can t leave home. I also think the discussions here are getting better.
Fo those who were bitter, too bad that they are missing out on all the fun. Popup Explorer used to be about 70 bodies ahead of us. No more. I think we ll pass them and get back to where we were before and only get better.
Gamecock CamperOh, yea... since my post earlier today, we are now up to 491 members.
Gamecock CamperI m on all the boards, so I get the best of all worlds.[8D]
Gamecock CamperIt would sure be fun to have more of the old gang back, but we need to stop and think of this from THEIR point of view and not just our own selfish desire to see everyone here again.
It might be that some of those who left--like some who were named in a post here--would feel it is against their principles to return as they went to other sites and more than once were openly very negative about PUT, Dave, and the magazine, as well as those who stayed on. After the things they said, they might feel very uncomforatble if they returned, wondering what kind of welcome they would get. If so, just tell them that the spirit of PUT is much too big and generous to hold their bad behaviour against them and all is forgiven (jjust like a real family) and it is safe to return and join in the fun again.
But, I dont think anyone here should place them in the embarrassing situation of harping on how great this place is and how these former members " just must come back" in case they feel they have a certain moral standard they are upholding in not coming back. Several of them said more than once that thay were adamently against paying for ANY site , EVER, especially this one. In person, and on the net, we must be supportive of the decisions our friends have made, even if it is to remain off this board.
Also, it might be wise to realize that PUT is not everyone s cup of tea and not make them feel unhappy about it if they hold this opinion. It s a big world and there are plenty of good free sites for anyone who prefers one.

Will do!
Gamecock CamperThe moderators at IRV2 just shut down a huge thread that started out innocently enough talking about the magazine and ended up bashing the magazine, the PUT board, and some individuals who post both here and there. It is very sad to see otherwise good and reasonable folks so ready to hurt each other over something that in the larger scheme of things is so minute. How can we hope to have peace in our world when human nature leads us to such disagreement.
Gamecock CamperNightOwl, You stated very well what I ve been thinking.
Quoteto stop and think of this from THEIR point of view and not just our own selfish desire to see everyone here again.
I certainly understand what you mean and that not everyone has the same perspective as me. That is actually what makes this whole world so much more interesting.
QuoteAfter the things they said, they might feel very uncomforatble if they returned, wondering what kind of welcome they would get.
As I said before, the door is always open. I would understand someone who is hesitant to come to the PUT board. I would welcome them because this is a place that I feel comfortable with. I know that not everyone feels the same as me. My father always used to say, " You can t change the past, just learn from it and move on" . And my grandfather always lived by the rule that
if you don t have anything nice to say, then don t say anything at all. I strongly feel that way.
Even though I joke around alot, I hope that I have never offended anyone.
QuotePUT is not everyone s cup of tea
I agree. But it used to be.

gosh this makes me feel sad. The worst of it is, before the board change, most of these people seemed to have such a great time and to appreciate all the afforts Dave made to make the board and the magazine outstanding. It amazes me that they are still harboring the ugly attitudes they left with and are still so obsessed with this place even though they have gone. I guess Fetch is right, sometimes it is very hard for people to let go of anger and move on and this is the stuff wars are made of..
And Stopher, with the open and positive attitude you have, it is easy to see why you are such a valuable member to someone like me. You dont stir the pot, but always try to keep things moving forward and bring out the best in all of us. Thanks!
Gamecock CamperWe are all grown ups. Those that made some negative statements and have chosen not to join the new board, so far, have a right to their opinion. BUT if they ever change their minds and want to join. I truly believe they would be welcomed back with open arms and NO ONE would give any thought to what was said in the PAST. Past is past. Life is too short to worry about it. We all love PU camping because we all want good things to think about and friends to talk about it with. There is enough negative stuff in life. I belong to this board because it is one of the pleasures in life.

Tammy tell them that I miss them. Let Bill aka Oz and Us, know that I still check his web site once in a while. Remind people that they can get the trial membership to visit us for a few days, even if they don t plan to stay.
