Title: Under Counter Water Filter
Post by: ckkevin on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
I have an under the counter water filter that supplies filtered water for drinking.  I have winterized my trailer with that pink stuff and was wondering if I need to replace the filter when I de-winterize.

ckkevinIf you did not remove the filter and/or bypass it then yes, a replacement cartridge is in your future.

If I remember correctly, the RV antifreeze degrades the filter material.  But, I would not think you would be out much as I would probably reocmend replacing the filter every year anyway.  While it may not filter a lot of water, it does sit there all season long with who knows what growing in the filter media.

ckkevinSpeaking as a plumber you must replace the filter. When you do flush the system before you put the new one in this will insure that the system is clean prior to useing it. Install the new filter and you should be good to go. At the end of the season just get rid of the filterand winterize as you do now. Hope this helps.[:)]
