Post by: birol on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
As above.. your Limericks goes after this post ......

I started a thread called limerick

 People type silly things

Gamecock CamperYeah right he says type a limerick

I wasn t born into English
 You try it in Turkish

birolBirol it is done something like this:

 Here s to Birol
 Our Turkiish-born friend
 Whose love of Nature
 Never will end.
At the bit he is champing
 To go out a-camping
 Where  his worries
 Surely will mend.

and you can blame TrlrBoy and the others for this, but you also are at fault for starting this thread[;)] of very poor verse!

birolbirol is a kind ol  gent,
who is thinking of getting a tent.
He d rather have a camper,
 That his family can pamper,
but no money is there to be spent.

(I m not calling you old, just looking for a rhyme.)

birolSTOPHER--you set a high standard[&:]  Very good, (even if Birol isint really old YET.)

(YET--but you know, this thread has the potential to age him like a snowball in hell.  I see it going downhill in a hurry when some of the rest of us join in.  Like the following

(Which I suppose ought to go in Toni s Cabin Fever thread but I will put it here (with apologies to poets everywhere.)

          Hurry SpringTime

The walls of my cabin are closing in
And I ve emptied my fortieth bottle of gin
 If I cant go out
I ll sit here and pout
 Or write poems--my favorite sin.

birolSome people complain we re a clicque
And shout it in loud fits of pique
That we re birds of a feather,
 And all stick together
Because we re not humble and meek.

 birolCan someone please tell me,
who this clicque is sposed to be?
 Are we cheerleaders or jocks,
 Preppies with white socks?
Oh man, what a sight that would be!

birolTo write limericks has long been a yearnin,
and my mind is relentlessly turnin,
But while I sit here and rhyme,
 and try to keep time,
I fear that my dinner is burnin

Sorry, my typing finger got all tangled up with itself

birolBirol, that s not bad for a first try.  Keep at it and you ll soon be as looney (and amused at this stuff) as the rest of us.  And it sure beats ugly talk![:)]

birolObviously ours was the ugly talk [>:]

Sometimes it is more important " how"  things are said then " what"  is being said.

I think I am going to take a few days off ...

 birolSo Birol needs lessons Lym-ricking?
His tempo leaves the rhymes just sticking,
 My good friend from Turkey,
 With humor so perky,
Five lines with designs and you re clicking.

birolThat was better Birol, and no you haven t been a pest.   We always need something to perk us up, especially after we ve gone thru a bad patch.   You have the spirit we love here on the board, very enthusiastic and energetic.  Don t let things get you down, and remember that you can only please part of the people all of the time, or you can please all of the people part of the time, but you can t please all of the people all of the time.

birolThe newspaper guy calls me again
He wants to talk to see if we might both gain
There is no guarantee I might make tons of money
I tell him I am happy working for a small fee
We agree to sit down and have a coffee
He hopes there will be something for me
