Maybe some of you will remember a few months ago, when our best friend and camping dog, Sparky, went on to be an angel dog. Rick and I have missed him very much, and this weekend we decided we were ready to go and look at some dogs. Of course, as Rick said, as soon as I looked, I had to have. We have a new addition to our family, as of today. She is a 5 1/2 week old Lab and Brittany mix and her name is Spanky. She won t ever replace Sparky, but we re already starting to love her. You ll find a few pics on our site.

wiininkweSpanky, you got a nice mommy and daddy [:D]
wiininkweNo problems at all, mine was a wild guess, I also couldn t find it initally and thought that maybe you had the picture in your profile and saw the url, so I just let the guys/gals know.
wiininkweYawn, it s been almost 15 years since we had a puppy in this house. Here s a few things that I was reintroduced to last night. !.) Puppys sleep a lot, only not all at one time. They wake up and whine at 3:00a.m. 2.) usually when they wake up whining, it s because of something, like, having to poop. 3.) When you have a new puppy, you should always turn the light on so you can see before walking around barefoot when your puppy wakes you up whining because she has to poop at 3:00 in the morning.

wiininkweI always wondered, how do you train a puppy not to want to go poo at 3:00 am in the morning when the master doesn t want to take the puppy to poo at 3:00 am in the morning, because 3:00 am in the morning is not the best time to be woken up by a puppy who wants to go poo at 3:00 am in the morning ?

wiininkweNo, Birol, the puppy doesn t get trained not to poo at 3:00, the owner gets trained not to sleep at that time. (Not really, we ll just make sure that she doesn t get fed after 6:00 p.m. and we ll let her out before we go to bed.) Last night was a trial and error kind of thing.

wiininkweTheir digestion system is that quick and resposive ? Woooow, lesson learned.
wiininkweHope you have room for a big dog, judging from the size of those feet! Our Lab/Spanial has something else mixed in and ended up being taller and bigger then most labs. So much for maxing out at 70lbs! (he ended up being 110) LOL
wiininkweSpanky s a doll! Congratulations!!! [:D]
wiininkweYou are going to love your Splab!! <-----That s what we call Maggy, my dads 13 yr old lab/brit mix.
Maggy looks like a yellow lab, but shorter legs and a curlier coat. She was extremely hyper until she was about 5yrs old. We even tried to get rid of her a few times, lol. We are grateful no one ever took our Maggy because she is a smart, terrific and loyal companion. Enjoy Spanky. Give him a kiss for me.

wiininkweCongrads on the new pooch.... Spanky is a cutie.
wiininkweI loved the photos. My dog is now 17 1/2 years old. That s right. She s a wonderful thing, even in her old age. Now, she doesn t hear or see as well, but she has me trained to take her out and she sleeps through the night as has been her habit for years. I just take her out right before bedtime and she does fine. My son was 12 when we got her on Christmas eve, so she has shared many good times with our family. It s going to be real hard when " her times comes."
