Okay, I have never seen this posted on the board and thought it might be a little fun to see what kind or items you have purchased unexpectedly at a great savings.
Over Christmas dw and I bought some glass candle decorations to put on our mantle. They had a small round candle in them. We burned them over the holidays.
Today at J.C. Penny, DW spotted 5 boxes of these candles, 4 in a box for $19.95 so that was 99.75.
Sale price was 77 cents with another percentage off. Total cost for the 5 boxes was $2.87.
GeneFOk, here I go, remember I actively hunt garage sales for stuff to sell them on ebay :
1 ) Steam Engine (locomotive), paid 10 Cdn bucks , sold for 100+ USD [:)]
2 ) Video Camera, paid 10 C$ bucks, sold for 140+ USD bigger [:D]
3 ) Movie Projector, paid 5 C$ bucks, sold for 150+ USD biggest [:D]
Ohh, store sales, ok.
Video Camera, as is, works, digital zoom, with an lcd panel display, 40 bucks, sold for 150 usd again :) New cost was 299 Cdn.
GeneFbirol I better not see you got tent for free and sold it on ebay.[:@]
GeneFWell, this isn t a shooping buy, per se, but I got a Daisy Kingdom dress for my daughter from a friend of a friend that was going to give it away to a thrift store. I sold it on ebay after she outgrew it for $70. I guess it was some " rare" pattern.
Best shopping buy? I can t come up with just one. I find them constantly.
GeneFA few years ago GSM x2 and myself were in the Sport Chalet and we stopped to look at bathing suits. He found one he liked, looked at the price tag and said, " $1.98." It was made by Speedo (not the kind you are thinking of [;)]) so it wasn t some off brand. We quickly looked for another one and went home with two of them.
GeneFThis wasn t for the popup but: I went in to do some work at Staples. (I am a merchandiser in computer stores) I was working on my client and noticed a sign that said " Cordless Freedom Optical" . This is a cordless keyboard and cordless mouse combo by Logitec. Originally this setup sold for $99.99. I was taking my inventory counts and found one way in the back on the shelf. It was clearanced priced at $17.50. What a steal. The manager said he lost money on that deal.

GeneFTacky lights for $1.99. They are fish (bass) in a string of 10.
There is a clearance center here and I love to go in and just browse around. I often get some really good deals, but that was the best one yet.
GeneFI needed for pants for my son, who seems to be outgrowing clothes every other day. I went shopping at J.C. Penney s with my sister, who also happens to work there. They had $32 pants, you know the ones that zip into shorts and have like 400 pockets, clearanced for $4.77. It also happened to be their percentage off day and I got an extra 30% off. Then I had my sister buy them for me and she got her employee discount of an extra 20% off. I ended up paying $2.67 a pair for these pants. Five pairs came to $14.15 w/tax. Thank God for small favors when your kids grow so fast!!

GeneFWay back when, Suezyque posted a sale price for the Century Electripac. I got it for ~$90 delivered I believe. I haven t seen one close to that price since.

I was in purusing the " as is" collection, and came across a pair of Asolo 535 Hiking boots. They had been returned, but were in like new condition!
The boots were priced at $79.00. The normal retail for these boots is $179.00, so this was a good deal!
But Wait ... It gets better!
I was trying on the boots to see if they would fit right (I m a 9.5, they were a 10) they did!!! Just as I was taking them of them off, the salesperson told me that they were trying to clear out the inventory and that I could have them for $19.97!!![:D]

GeneFYesterday I got two GI Joe s for $7.88 US each, in Canada IF you can find them, they are around $30 CDN each. If with the exchange rate, that was a great deal. I should have picked up a whole wack of the them!
BTW, for my Canadian friends, I ve always heard about Target and finally got to shop in one, that s where I got Joe and it is basically Zellers. Target and Zellers carry the same brands the stores are set up pretty much the same.
Oh yeah, the coleman 2 mantle, propane lantern with the automatic igniter was only $19.99 US. We got ours last year for I believe $58 CDN

GeneFour popup![:D]
DH had promised me we d buy one if I could get the one we wanted at his chosen low price. He didn t think it could be done, and I had my doubts as well. One dealer snickered (really) when I told how much DH was willing to spend. Another said he d try, but only managed to get within $500 of the mark. The third dealer worked and reworked the numbers until he matched it. We got exactly what we wanted at DH s price. I could have kissed that man![;)]
I quickly called DH and said " Honey, we are the proud owners of a new popup" Silence was all I heard. Now, however, DH also agrees it was the best bargain ever for what it gives us - more family time, a getaway, and many new places and adventures whenever we can get away.
GeneFI am a bargain shopaholic so I have way too many to name. Two of my favorites though are:
Polaroid digital camera, list at $175, I got it for 20 bucks
Coleman rechargeable air pump, list at 29.98, got it for 5 bucks
both are used for camping [:D]
GeneFMy Wedding gown. Bought new from JC Penney Warehouse Outlet. Paid $4!
