Title: Trying to get out
Post by: Tim5055 on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
Well, I m crossing my fingers that the weather holds out.  If it does we are goiing to try one of the county campgrounds just north of DC next weekend.

The DW has a 4 day weekend but I have to work Saturday.  I ll commute in and come back to the campground at night.

I guess I ll have to pull the PU out of the garage this week, [link=http://www.title-3.com/Spring.htm]reverse the winterizing I did last year[/link] and get things going.

Well, this will be a busy week, working on the PU every day after work.

I think you might be in luck.  But don t let the rain spoil it.  Go anyway.  Have fun and report back to us.

tim5055We are in Frederick and also itching to get out.

Tim, first of all, thanks for your in depth site. We bought our PU about 1 month ago and your plethera of info has been very helpful.

We camp with dogs and are trying to get out this weekend for our maiden voyage (3/21- 3/23) Any ideas on nice places to get our legs under us in the MD VA S Central PA area? Must be dog friendly as well.

We had the notion of heading towards the ocean (Lewes, Rehoboth, Bethany). Any ideas would be appreciated.

 Thanks

Personally, I d stick close to home for the first trip of the year.  Anything on the eastern shore is probably several hours for you.

MD state parks don t open until the last weekend in March or first weekend in April, so they are probably out.  Once they open I like [link=http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/western/gambrill.html]Gambrill State Park[/link], which is in your backyard.

[link=http://www.mc-mncppc.org/parks/facilities/bencamp.shtm]Little Bennett Regional Park[/link] is open Friday night - Saturday night, first come first served.

tim5055Little Bennett is nice with many large sites. There are several trails for hiking. Its only drawback that I could see was the fact that the bathrooms are far from the electric loop. Tim, we would come and visit you as we live about 5 miles away, however we will be going to Gettysburg this weekend to stay in a hotel with our adoption support group. Little Bennett allows us to still camp and attend the girls soccer games during the spring and fall. Have fun, Sandy and the gang
