FoxyladiesIt said that computing power double every 18 months and that 3 years is considered an extended life for a computer. While a 2.4 Gigahertz processor isn t necessary to surf the web. Updated browser software IS.  IE 4.0 or Netscape 5.0 or earlier will cause all kinds of errors. Microsoft was been good about backward compatability with their software but unfortunately most new programmers write for the latest versions and so create compatability problems with older versions.

FoxyladiesI posted this same problem the other day and everyone said they had no plroblem, it is nice to see that I am not the only one.  When I get the message I hit yes about 20 times and it scrolls through the problems until I get back but what a drag.  This is the only site it does it on and I have Windows XP on a pretty new computer.

FoxyladiesGaryWT,  I saw your post and tried to post, but alas, the scripts errors kept popping up and I could not post.  I finally gave up and shut the computer down.[8D][8D][8D]

FoxyladiesI m running Windows 98SE and Internet Explorer 5.5 and have no problems on any site. It sounds like your software may be corrupted, have you tried to re-install IE?

FoxyladiesI d suggest going to the Microsoft site and download / apply any upgrades for your Windows operating system.  Most of the problems that I have had in the past have had easy to apply fixes there.

FoxyladiesYep, sounds like the older windows is not compatible. Then again, if your using an older version of MSIE along with the older win95, you might just have to update the MSIE, download the MSIE 6.0 (it s free) and see if that fixes the problem before buying a new OS...

i m on Win-XP and MSIE 6.0 and have no problems...

I do work with several NT PC s at work ... I have some that will show PUT just fine, and others that will not allow me to enter the forum pages? I have tried everything  ... it just does not want to cooperate! I was able to use Netscape on that PC, but the screen display is against a black field. I am trying to work that problem out. I think that the problem is old versions of both apps.

I will stick with my MAC ... Windows is too much work!

FoxyladiesOK, I went to Microsoft web page, I downloaded windows updates(17 of them), it downloaded for about an hour then stopped.  I could not get it to do anything.  Clicked on something that tells you the history of your updates, and of course, mine were all failed.  So whats a girl to do?  [8D][8D][8D]

HersheyGirlDo them a few at a time, starting with the most dated ones .....

FoxyladiesYep, do the oldest upgrades first and then the newer ones in sequence from oldest to newest.  The newer Windows versions all search for upgrades on a regular basis, so getting that out of sync with upgrades doesn t happen with the newer versions..... but at the same time,  Windows 98 is a great and stable product.  The newer Windows versions have a few extra features and at the same time a few bugs in them that Microsoft is fixing via making these upgrades available.  Good luck and I ll continue to look at this post to see if you get your machine working as it should.

FoxyladiesSuccess!  I was able to download the new updates for windows and get them installed.  I was not able to use the AOL browser, had to go to netscape, and then it worked like a charm.  I am so excited that it worked.  Thank you so much.  I hope that the updates will take care of the problems.  Maybe I need to use netscape instead of aol browser, ya think?
Roseann, the updates should not interfere with any of your files or software.

FoxyladiesAs a general rule, files are not changed at all.... only programs are updated.  The old files and programs are also usually backward compatible, which means basically that the old stuff will work with the updated new stuff.....  Glad it worked Hershey Girl...
