Title: SOME MEMBERS Unable to access PUT FORUMS
Post by: NightOwl on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
Al  Parker (TopCat) phoned me a few minutes ago to say that he and Toni (Wiininkwe) and several others are " locked out"  of the PUT sites entirely.   After talking with him--he and Toni are both on AOL,--we decided that probably the lockout has come as a result of some kind of sudden incompatibility between their AOL settings and  our PUT  server.  Al had already been in touch with Steve who is looking into it.   (Hmmm...I  THOUGHT  things here looked pretty slow, even for a Sunday)

So if you have any friends who cannot get on, tell them not to freak out, but to be patient and keep trying.   I KNOW that Steve and Dave will not let them be locked out in the cold a second longer than necessary[:)]

I have not had a single second of trouble getting in--use IE AND MY TRUSTY MAC POWERBOOK with OSX !![:@][:)][8D][:D]

NightOwlI don t think it s an AOL thing, I think it s more an internet addressing problem.

I use Verizon DSL and coupld not get to the site, but if I used the IP address I could get to popuptimes.com.

 Very Strange.

NightOwlJust had an e-mail from Sharon (SLTrawick) and she cannot access any of the PUT forums.  Her e-mail address shows that her ISP is " comcast."

I ve been on the board off and on with no problems all day long, and  dont understand why some of us have had no problems and  at the same time, some of us cant get on at all  or have to try and try.   ???????????????

NightOwlI couldn t get in today using the new message board address saved in my Favorites. I tried the old Favorites setting and I could successfully get to the PUT main page (instead of the message board). No AOL here (MSN).

 NightOwlJo Ann...

Go to www.nimblewaresolutions.com and down load their " Banner Zapper" , they have a free trail, and believe me it works great and well worth the $9.99 to register it! I love it, and it doesn t interfere with most site s, and if it does, you can set it to allow banners and pop-up s at specified site s. Excellent program!

NCSunshineI bookmarked the new forum, and was able to get here several times with no problem. Just now, I clicked on the Forum link in my Favorites and got an error message saying I could not access the site because either cookies or Javascript were disabled (which they aren t). So I went back to Favorites and clicked on the link for the PUT main page. It opened with no problem. Then I clicked the message board link from the main page and here I am!

Not sure what the problem is, but I think it s all magic anyway!  LOL!!

NCSunshineNo problems (yet)....using DSL.  However, I am still using the link in " My Faves"  which leads to the home page, then coming here.  If I can t get here next time I try, I ll probably be in detox or something once they finish treating me for withdrawal.

NCSunshineUnfortunately, we have AOL and have had a bunch of problems getting on.  I keep getting error messages and then it locks me out completely.  Have to sign off AOL and get back on.  What a pain.  I have an old computer so of course it takes forever.  Hopefully, things resolve themselves.  I was getting grumpy cause I couldn t get my PUT fix.

NightOwlMay I please clarify that noone has been " locked out" .
There are some general connectivity issues between the internet and our
hosting provider and we are as on top of it as we can be.

 NCSunshineFrom our host:

" Yesterday afternoon, there was a DNS issue affecting the nameserve.net name servers, as the host registration was mistakenly changed by network solutions. We have resolved the issue with network solutions, and the DNS for your domains seems to be resolving properly now.

It may take a few hours for the caching name servers on the internet to be updated with the correct DNS configuration again, so please check in a few hours, if you are having any problems reaching any domains hosted by the nameserve.net DNS servers. We apologize for any inconvenience or downtime this has caused for your domains, and we hope the issue will be completely resolved within a few hours."

NCSunshineSounds more like Dave gave Steve the night off. Remember how when ever Dave gave Steve timeoff on the old boards we were down every time? [:D] Or else IMO Steve try to work on the board hungover.[:o][:D]

Honestly Steve I believe you, really I do, Yup I believe it was the ISP, sure I do, honestly I do believe you.[:D]

NightOwlCould it be thet the firewall is blocking the " referrer"  thingie ? I had the same problem and had tell Norton Firewall to let that referrer thingie work for www.popuptimes.com.

Might be the same thing ?

Steve, please accept my apologies for  the  poor choice of words accompanying my good intentions: " shut out"  and  " locked out"   I DID NOT MEAN TO IMPLY that this was some sort of " voluntary act"  on your part or Dave s, or caused by neglect on your part, but used the words loosely simply to indicate that people could not access the site.

I think  everyone here knows how diligent you are about seeing that things run  as smoothly as possible (within YOUR power)  and that our needs are always  tended to with dedication by OUR WEBMASTER![:)][:)][:)]

NightOwlI had a similar problem, but seemed to be the opposite. Last night when I tried getting in using IE via signing on my cable modem I could NOT access the boards, however when I went thru my AOL web browswer I could get in, infact I posted a reply last night but it s not here. I use aol s back door w/ bring my own access (ISP) so it seems liek it was opposite for me from the problems others had.

Yes, I am still here [:D][:D] Like I told dh, even though I don t really post here anymore I still read and lurk [:)] So for that I pd my $30. Plus in all honestly this board HELPED out TONS when we were newbies and I feel I owe it to Dave to subscribe, my way of paying back Dave for him having the old free board up and everyone helping in answering my dumb questions back then, but most of all, you all are some of the nicest ppl I ve known/met, I just can t stay away [:)] so I ll still be here lurking [:)]

NCSunshineI ve been having trouble signing on for days now too, regardless of which method I use to sign in. So finally I got around to really reading the different error messages and saw Problem #2 talks about bookmarking a page with an invalid session ID. I have several different bookmarks for this site and have had trouble with all of them. Today I simply went to popuptimes.com and had no trouble reaching the main page. So for now, that s the way I ll get here. Glad to be back.
