birolI haven t seen a post from her for a couple of weeks. I sent her an email, so maybe I will find our. Maybe she is away camping.

birolI m going to take some liberties here and answer this question, and hope that I m not overstepping the bonds of friendship that I have with her. I m not trying to speak for her, just give you my impression of things.
Maybe a few of you might remember that several weeks ago there was a thread that took kind of a nasty turn? There were two members in particular that seemed to be laying in wait for her to post her opinions and then make nasty remarks, then one of them deleted his own remarks, making it look like she was trying to start something. One of our esteemed moderators scolded her, and then closed the thread saying that if anyone needed to address the issue they should email him. well, I did, and so did NightOwl but the moderator never had the respect to respond to either of us. I was annoyed by it, no big deal, but she had asked some specific questions and never received an answer. That, along with some other projects that she needed to spend time on led her to decide that maybe she would " take a break" from the board. I, for one miss her very muchon the board but feel that she needs to deal with this in her own way. I will continue to be her good friend, and stay in contact with her on or off this board.

birolI wondered what was up with this board lately? NightOwl is the " Mamasan" of the board - the " Matriarch" in my opinion - and I admire and respect her immensly. I am not aware of the posts or the nonsense that went on -- but I wish she were back and inspiring all of us - as only she can do - in her own special way.
I can only speak for myself - but NightOwl has been a wonderful friend to me over the years that I have known her - although I have yet to meet her in person - I feel as though I ve known her forever - were old pals!!! I know there are many of you out there who feel the same towards her - she is such a special lady and a special member of this board. I hope she feels she can come back soon!!
NightOwl if you are reading this - we love you and miss you!!!

birolBirol, just making sure that you understand, NightOwl isn t being made to stay off the board, she just felt that after being treated that way, maybe she would spend some time doing some other things that weren t getting done because of the time she spent here. I did speak with her just a little while ago, and while she said to say thank you to those who have asked about her, she didn t indicate that she was in any mood to come right back. Who knows, maybe, maybe not?! I would have thought that some of the people who are connected to the administration would have noticed her absence, and missed her dedicated spirit.

birolIt does seem kind of wierd not seeing her name on here now. I noticed something was different about the board..but couldn t quite put my finger on it. Tell her we miss her dearly. Seeing her name on a post, and reading her posts were like coming home from a hard day s work to find a fire going in the fire place..and hot cocoa and cookies waiting for you, and the wife saying " here hun...I kept the recliner warm for you" . I always read her posts...even in a thread that I have no intrest in just to read her words of wisdom. I may not agree with some of her beliefs..but I respect them cause at least she states them with and logic and passion, and doesn t have the " I m right..you re wrong, so think what I think or you re a bad person" attitude like some folks I known, met, and read their posts on. Shame on the people who did that to her. I don t remember the thread, but doing something like that is like starting a bar fight, then hiding under a table to see the destruction. Nothing but pure cowardice. Trying to get someone else into trouble cause you don t agree with their beliefs is nothing but pure HS...grow up and get a life.
birolI want you all to know that hearing your reactions to her absence from the board is also helping me. She s been my best friend on this board for quite a while now, and not JUST on the board but in our personal lives. We talk every few days on the phone, and my DH Rick and I have spent considerable time as guests with her and Billy. They are both like family to us, and knowing how upset she was at the turn this took hurt me very badly too. At first I was just going to keep my mouth shut (for a change, LOL) because I knew that she would deal with it on her own level, but over the last three weeks I have found myself feeling very bitter that something like this could happen on this board. My last several posts may have reflected the fact that I didn t really care anymore what anyone else thought, I was gonna say just what I thought about things, no matter who didn t like it. But, tonight, just seeing these few posts from the rest of you is reminding me why we have this message board. Because we are like family. And family doesn t deliberately hurt those that they care for.

birolWow, just went back and viewed that thread. I saw quite a few deleted posts that were replaced with winks and smiles. Could be just me, but those seemed a tad bit more sarcastic than any other posts I saw on there...

birolI have also wondered where Nightowl was. Have no idea what the post was and don t want to know, BUT I do want her to know that she is missed badly. I pray that when time has passed and healing has taken place, that she will grace us with her presence again.
Please tell her that even though I don t know her that I have great respect for all the good things she has said and done here.

As many times as I have disagreed with Nightowl, she was always the first to forget about it , And has never held a grudge. So I m not buying this one either.

JeffreyThe last email I received from her stated that she was up to her, well, you know, with projects. I don t believe her absence has anything to do with any thread. Anyone who has been around for a while should know that NightOwl is not one to turn and run.
birolI hate to see that Nightowl has decided to take a break because of one person. I was also one of the people that person was waiting to attack in those nasty threads. I was one of the people that responded in a less than friendly manner and then I decided it wasn t why I come here and I d just ignore responding to threads that are negative like the one that Nightowl probably is taking a break from. I looked up that person (most people know who that is, and if not, then don t worry as it isn t worth stirring up again) and saw that the person who was going after Nightowl posted last on 2/26/03, so maybe that person is taking a break also. Now that the weather is here, let s put that behind us, have Nightowl join us here again, and go camping.

I will repeat, she IS also up to her you know what in projects, as Bill said, but is disgusted that people can come in on this free membership and create havoc and then leave, possibly to show up again as another screenname. Also, since you said that she has posted often since then, go back and see, she did post for a few days I believe while waiting for a response from the mod. When she didn t get one, she decided to spend her time doing other things. I am not trying to stir up another rucus, but someone asked where she was, and I answered. It doesn t seem like the board as I know it at it s best, to let such a valuable member just drift away.

I am sorry Nightowl?s feelings where hurt and don t wish her to leave the board either. But after seeing a few posts of what people think they remember and basically how awful the other member must have been I wanted to post as well. I ll say if this little feud was between whom I seem to " remember" it being between I consider him a friend as well and I don t think he should be slammed either.
The moderator took a refreshing little poke noting what all the rest of us could read into Nightowl?s post, big deal it and heck it was kind of funny. If the issue is simply the moderator not replying back well maybe everyone should focus this drama on them and not the other dues paying, contributing member of this board who was involved.
BTW: she was right about wearing name badges[8D]

May I suggest that every one just drop this whole matter. All those who were involved know what happened... who said what...and clarifications about intented tones and inuendos have been made or at least attempted. I know many agree that we miss Elisa...and many of us miss Bearbait as well. (Yes, I m using his name... it s silly and rude not to, as if he were some faceless evil. Anyone can easily find out who the whole conflict involved.) But you know what? They are adults and they will work it out on their own. Nobody really knows the reasons why each of them stays away. And it s not fair to try to make guess or excuses for their absenses. If they want us to know why, then they have the abilitly to come here for themselves and say why. But in my opinion, the fact that they haven t come here and done just that is because maybe they feel it s nobody s business why they stay away. I think we are all just being busybodies keeping on and on with this thread topic rehash.
Enough is enough. Get on with life. It seems to me like Elisa and Bearbait already have. Let s follw their lead.
