Title: buying a boat
Post by: Campinfools on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
 Does anyone know of a forum like PUT, but for boaters?  We re looking at pontoon/party/float boats, and would love to get some good info from real consumers... Anyone know of a site?

 CampinfoolsHere are a couple of boating forums where you can post messages:

 [link=http://www.internetboats.com/wwwboard.html] Internet Boats[/link]

 [link=http://www.boatered.com/forum/] Boater ED[/link] seems to be much like the PUT format

 CampinfoolsI" d recommend Pontoon and Deckboat magazine.  It is a specialty magazine dedicated to those types of boats.    They don t have a message board, but they do have a good magazine that is more tilted towards selling new boats..... and a website at www.pdbworld.com.  We have a 2001 Crest Grand Carribean 26  pontoon boat with a 90hp Honda outboard on it.  This is our second pontoon boat and I think that these boats are the best option for families, especially with kids.  Lots of room and they travel well over rough water when we encounter it.  Our first pontoon boat was a JBC 24  (1981) with a 1980 Johson 50hp outboard.  It was also a good boat that we bought used and refurbished.  I would look for used first.  Any do it yourselfer can refurbish a pontoon boat....... and they depreciate as fast as RV s / PU s from new, so used is a great way to go.  Good luck and e-mail me if you have any questions.
