Title: Lost A Pet Found A Pet
Post by: gr8grandpa on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
The day after Thanksgiving my 11 yr old ggs let my little black poodle outside to play with him. He ran in front of a truck and was killed instantly. My ggs and I both saw it. I thought more of him than any dog that I ever had. I do not know who it was the hardest on me or my ggs. We live in the country and there is not much traffic on our road but the wind was blowing and we did not hear the truck. The guy was not driving too fast and there was nothing he could do. He did stop and apologized. I told him that it was not his fault. I found another little black poodle at www.petfinder.com (they have other pets besides dogs). I picked her up on Christmas Eve and named her Eve. She is 10 mo. old and house broken.  We have a fenced back yard and a doggie door for her and dw s little maltepoo.

gr8grandpaSorry to hear about your loss.  Pets become part of your family and loosing one can be very hard.  I m glad you found a new friend.[:)]  I hope she makes you happy.  Sometimes getting a " non-puppy"  is much easyer.  Good luck with Eve.[:)]

gr8grandpaI used to think the way people reacted when they lost pets was ridiculous. Until I lost my own dog, Vincent. Had to call in sick one night for work!

Hope Eve helps you recover, and I wish you and your ggs the best.

gr8grandpaSorry about your loss, and happy you found a new friend.
We just gained another camping buddy. We ve got another ferret to keep our 3 yr old ferret Frank company. Only problem is, now I have to bring their 3 story cage along whenever we go camping.[:@]
Sometimes I wish I had a dog...landlord won t allow it.[:@] But the ferrets make up for it.[;)]

gr8grandpaI m sorry to read about your loss; what a traumatic way to lose a pet.  It s good you were able to find a new pet who fits in your family well.   Are you planning on camping with your new friend?  We don t have any dogs but we do have two cockatiels that we adore but they re NOT going camping with us.  (talk about annoying neighbors--that " KWEE KWEE!!"  would drive the neighbors nuts, that and the repetitive, early morning songfest we get treated to !)

gr8grandpaSorry to hear about your loss.  I had to put down my dog just before Christmas(she was very ill) but adopped a pup the following week, which helped fill the viod.

i just hope she turns out to be just as good a camper that Maxine was.

gr8grandpaThanks for the replys. Just took Eve to the vet today for a check up. She had all of her shots when I got her. She was under weight when I got her but is gaining now. I will be taking her camping with me. I hope she is as good as the one that got killed. She minds pretty well and will stop barking when I tell her to,sometimes she is like the DGGK S and has to be told more than once.
