Title: School House Rock
Post by: kathybrj on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
My 4th grade daughter is supposed to try to memorize the preamble by Monday. Well, Mom only remembers it if she sings it, like they did on School House Rock. I am going tomorrow to get the DVD at the local book store. I forgot how much stuff they covered- grammer, math, science, government.

Does anyone know if they still play these on Saturday mornings? We atren t TV watchers, per se.

I think I m more excited about getting the School House Rock DVD than my daughter. Ah, childhood memories! [:D]

 What s that function?

School House is great and the original " Cliff Notes"  of learning.  Good idea and good way to help your daughter.

kathybrjWe have a copy of Grammar Rock down in the rec room now you got me going and I can actually hear the tune. We actually bought our copy at Wally world. The kids love it. They have math, science and grammar that I know of. Gotta love it when kids are learning and they don t even know it hehehe.

kathybrjI was able to get the music and there are DVDs of the skits out, so I m going to pick them up.

Looking back, now I understand how I remembered certain things in school. ABC television should really reconsider putting those back on the air.

Preamble to what?  The US Constitution is the most obvious answer, but not the only one.

If it is the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution, then while she is memorizing it, you might try reading the whole thing.  You d be surprised what some people think is in there (that really isn t) and some never knew was in there.

Why, the one they sang in School House Rock. [:D]

She is learning the different parts of the Constitution at school. I will be following along with her, if she has questions.

I have read the whole thing- can be dry, but some parts are interesting.

Funny you mention that, I was just thinking this week how I use to love watching the After School Specials.  The only time we see School House Rock is on commercials selling the DVD s[&:]  I still remember alot of those After School Specials too, it was decent programing, at least to a 12 year old.
