We just returned from KOA Williamsburg, and we had a BLAST! Because of a HUGE traffic delay at the D.C. beltway, we didn t arrive at our campsite until 9pm (our 1st time setting up was in the DARK!). We drove around for 15 minutes just trying to FIND our site, but it was perfect - right next to the bath house.
After getting set-up and in bed by 11pm, our human alarm clocks (a.k.a. Zach, Josh, Ben & Casey) made sure we didn t sleep past 6:30 - they re VERY efficient! During our stay, we visited Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, and the NASA Space Center in VA (on the way home). We also crossed over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, which totally freaked ME out - going across a huge bridge with a CAMPER! But, we lived to tell and of course the kids thought it was WAY COOL!
All in all, I can sum up our trip in the words of my 9 1/2 yr old... When we arrived at camp Saturday night, he said, " NOW we re camping! I can smell the campfires! Doesn t that smell GREAT?!"
Side note: As we approached the traffic backup at the beltway, we saw a truck towing a Coleman PopUp SPEED by us, and we commented on how dangerous it seemed (we were going 65, and he ZOOMED past). One of the traffic backups was caused by THAT DRIVER, as his truck rear-ended another vehicle farther along.
my4cutiesSo, needless to say, now you re hooked and you re probably counting the days till your next excursion. Welcome to the wonderful world of PopUping. LOL [:)]
