Ok folks, I" m getting serious about this...
I just purchased my own domain name and am creating my new website.
I d like your feedback on things you d like to see (informational, etc).
Here s the link....I just started, so be gentle...LOL
www.texascamper.com
JemJen24I think it would be convenient and helpful to include links for things like the Texas SP or DNR web sites (including links to reservation sites, if any), and if there is a web site for a Texas campground owners association, a link to that would be helpful.
Looks like a good start.
Austin
JemJen24Nice graphics, I like what I see so far.
JemJen24What I d like to know is, why is the little camper rocking around in the link to your trips???!!! [;)] What IS going on in there??!! [:o][:D][;)]
I m only kidding, I like it - certainely more than I could attempt. Austin s right - links to the SP s, etc would be great! I also think under " helpful and useful links" should be Pop-up Times!! [:D][:D]
JemJen24Lookin great! Sure a lot better then anything I could do.
JemJen24I can t get in from the link. It says " Forbidden"
JemJen24I can t either. Help!!!!!!![8D][;)]
JemJen24(laughs...figures...I get the site done...and find Microsoft FRONT PAGE on sale for less than 100 bucks. Naturally, I HAD to buy it and now am REWORKING the front page. That s why you re getting error messages....
STAY TUNED...
Fixing it....hope to have at least the first page done tonight...whew
JemJen24I couldn t use Front Page even though I have it. I don t know how to use it yet. But I use Cool Page which is incredably easy with a drag and drop format. So far my site has just used the free version, on which I will upgrade to the full pro version soon. Check mine out and let me know what you think. As soon as I get the pro version downloaded the stupid little pop up thingys will quit. My whole site was created using Cool Page and Paint Shop Pro 7.
For anyone who wants to make their own site not using the site templates I recommend this program. It is way to easy and good for us HTML challenged people.
I m looking forward to your new site.
JemJen24Ok...the new FRONTPAGE site is up!!!! NOWWWWW lemme know what you think!!!
Starcraft dad....I likeyou re site...I am SLOWLY getting a hang of this Frontpage. Luckily I am an avid Word and Excel user which REALLY helps!
[:)]
JemJen24Jen,
You re rocking!!!![;)][8D] (I don t mean the trailer either.)
Now, where did you find the " Front Page" so cheap???
JemJen24JemJen24,
Glad to see you went with FrontPage. As another who uses Word and Excel, FP seemed easy. A little hint, learn to use " Includes" now before you get a lot of pages. If you look at any of my pages, the banner, left table of contents and the bottom footer are all individual " included" pages. Using an include in FP allows you to change a single page and display the information on multiple pages. I learned it too late, I already had about 25 pages and had to chenge them all.
It s looking good! Don t try to do too much too soon. Just slowly add pages and you will be amazed how quickly it comes together.
Additionally, I see you are having the same FrontPage problems with counters I did. I finally gave up on the counter for my home page and went with a web based counter.
JemJen24OMG Tim, YESSSSS, I can not get a dang counter inserted to save my life!
I got a free one, have the html, but can t seem to get it to work correctly.
How do I insert a counter using HTML coding? Is there an easier way? I went into the HTML portion of my Index page, manualy inserted it there, but it just gave me a box with allt he html gibberish in it.
Any suggestions? Who s are you using?
J.
PS>...that rockin camper is gettin a lot of attention! LOL
JemJen24Jen, I was wondering about your database page. When you click on the pics is it suppose to open into a larger version of that pic. I clicked on a few and they were opening to other pics than the one posted.
JemJen24Don t try to type on the raw HTML tab until you begin to get very comfortable with HTML.
Put the cursor where you want the counter, then on the " Insert" drop down menu at the top go to " Advanced" then " HTML" It will then open a box to put the HTML for the counter.
JemJen24Starcraft dad...YOU RE RIGHT!!! What the heck is going on with that? grrrrrrr, lemme go see if I can fix it. How strange!
JemJen24Frontpage is a wonderful application for novice website creators. I used it for the first incarnation of my site, and it was wonderfully simple to link all the pages together. I built everything in the flow chart view mode, linking new pages easily into the system. I liked how it built all the side bar menus and banner pages for me.
The BAD thing about Frontpage is that if you ever decide to move up to a more professional level site creation software, like GoLive or DreamWeaver, all the crummy custom HTML elements that Microsoft shoves into your site make it VERY difficult to reuse the pages.
While GoLive can import a Frontpage site, cleaning it all up is murder. I ve been reduced to copying the text and the tables containing my pictures into each new page I put up. And considering the number of pages I have...it s taken quite some time!
Good luck on the site, Jen!
JemJen24Praise the Lord...I figured it out! I had folders. Each folder had about 10 pics of different trips and the pictures in each folder were titled
000.jpg
001.jpg
002.jpg
and so on. Since I had those same file names in 4 different folders, the system couldn t figure out which 001.JPG I was trying to use.
Simple solution...rename the pictures to their own personal file name.
Now I just have to go back in and add text, but that ll have to wait till this weekend.
Thanks for the catch, Starcraft Dad!!!
Tim...I used your counter, and it worked. Thanks for the info!!!!
Oh...and I bought my Frontpage 2002 at The Gamestop. Seems they were clearancing their office section.

JemJen24Oh...forgot to ask....If I upload myimages to my webhost, I CAN delete the image files from my computer, right?
Just want to make sure that this won t interfere whenever I upload changes to the website.
Jennifer
JemJen24I delete my images when I have uploaded to my host and there is no problem. As long as you don t want to use them in the future.
JemJen24I do the exact oposite, I save everything. Should the webhost have a failure and loose teh server, I still have all my files on my computer.
Plus, using FrontPage, if you delete it on your end it will want to take it off the server everytime you publish.
tim5055what s an ENT?
tim5055Oops, that was END. Typing too fast
But, let me be more specific...
When using FrontPage if you select a picture from a ditectory (folder) on your computer FrontPage will copy it from the folder to the " web" folder on your computer. You can delete it from the original folder, just dont delete it from the " web" folder.
