This question was asked in another thread by ForestCreature and I liked it so much I thought I d put it in it s own thread, to see more than one response! (Thanks Marcy)
If you could camp with any famous person who would it be? and why?
There are a lot of possibilites...I would really like to camp with Gordon Lightfoot, Canadian folk singer. Imagine the campfires with a guy like him strumming on the guitar!
So who would you choose?
fivegonefishingTammy, I like your music around the campfire idea and that led me to stories around the camp fire. so, I would pick Jimmy Stewart his voice and that style, he could tell great stories.
Now the man in me that wants to give dw ammo to kill me with says a nice weekend in the woods with Ashley Judd would make for some happy campin[8D]
fivegonefishingDepends on the activity. But can you imagine gazing at the stars with Carl Sagen? Sitting around the campfire with Bill Cosby? Or just discussing *things* with Socrates and/or Plato?
fivegonefishingGeeze Tammy, now I have to answer my own question!
For scary tales around the fire Vincent Price
For deep conversation maybe Nostradamus (sp?) would make things interesting
For music Clapton blues style would be my pick
For laughs how about Robin Williams
Someone bending over picking up a log in tight pants[;)] ,Mel Gibson
fivegonefishingAt this point I just want to camp with all my children. I want them all home safe, so I can just spent time with them.
fivegonefishingI guess I sorta have to go the way of the Mahaffeys, instead of celebs...
I would like to camp with my in-laws and my own parents, and have them enjoy it. *sigh* But they aren t the camping type. Oh well.
Larry
fivegonefishingFriends and family are the best, I m truley looking forward to spending time with Don and Amy this weekend but I d love to be at Marcy s camp fire[;)]
Imagine the stories if you could have Token, Shakespear and Rawlings spinning tales?........Magical Balrocs with a pox on thier throat.
fivegonefishingChet Atkins...would love to hear that man pick that " yackety ax" of his, live, just one more time. Put off seeing him in person for many years due to money. Then when I had the money, he d retired from performing live. Now he s gone. A very great loss for me and the rest of the world.
PS: Wouldn t object to Gordon Lightfoot, either.
fivegonefishingFor a good ghost story lets get Stephen King in on the action too!!
Music I ll have to let dh decide cause he s more the musical type then me!
fivegonefishingJesus!
fivegonefishingSpiro Agnew.
fivegonefishingAnna Nicole Smith. Well...not with her cause she could drive ya to serious bouts of drinking...but next to her camp site because just think of the show (and no..not the " it" kind of show). She just doesn t seem like the type to camp..and it would be funny listenning to her complain to her groupies about all the " icky" things. Who I would like to camp with is my dad. Haven t camped with him since I was younger, and I ve been trying to get him to go camping with us for a couple of years. Been to busy being retired. What he knows about nature (he went to Forestry College at SU, and was a trail guide at Yellowstone his first couple of years of retirement) my son would really enjoy. Oh well...someday.
fivegonefishingFFH for music; Jesus for life.
I know this is changing the subject, the other week on a contemporary Christian music radio station, a man with the Family minute or Focus on the Family (not Dr Dobson) was talking about Christain music. He said " There is no Christian music" only the lyrics make it Christian. Never thought of it that way and just found it interesting so thought I would share.

Tammy,
Somehow we will figure out where and when we can do dinner over the fire instead of a restraunt!!
fivegonefishingIf I could camp with any one person from history, I would love to camp with Abraham Lincoln....I think that he was a fountain of knowledge and wit...and he loved chopping wood, so we would ALWAYS have a campfire![;)][;)][:D]
I was going to say Jesus, but we already camp with Him all the time!!![:)]

I d choose my Grandmother. She died on square root day (9/9/81). I felt I was just getting to know her since she lived in NY and I lived in Michigan during my childhood. She was an artist and would have been famous by now. I found a journal of hers at my dad s house about their times at a cabin in upstate NY. She told who was there, what they did, the state the World was in, etc. I think she would have loved to camp with us.
fivegonefishingAnna Nicole Smith had a show that was all about her camping trip - her son and her crew went with her - I don t watch the show regularly so I don t know all the names and she is such a freak - that on this particular night I found it hard to switch - but she actually did pretty good - built her own campfire (but got yelled at by the ranger for pulling off branches of trees). She set her tent up ith a " port-a-potty" of sorts and explained to her son that they were " roughing it" . They ended up not staying more than one night - because on of her co-workers was whining about quitting smoking and needing a ciggerette because he forgot his patch - so they packed up and she was furioius - and very, very verbal about it! I switched the channel.......
I would love to camp with James Taylor at my campfire ~ I also think he is a pretty cool guy. Kind of cute even!!!!!
fivegonefishingSandra Dee (We share the same birthday) or Annette Funicello ( I loved those mouse ears)

LMAO, don t you know I was a witch when we married!! 365 nights a year, he is used to it after all these years[;)]
fivegonefishingThis is a great thread... Makes you want to think for a moment...
My choices would be the following:
Carlos Santana - One of the Greatest Guitar Artists in the World.. Not that I am skilled enough to play with him, but to be able to talk and learn from the Greatest would be life fantasy.
Albert Einstein - To spend a moment understanding what runs thru a Geniuses mind would be a exciting thing to do. The Average Human uses 5% of the Capacity of the Brain, he was credited with using 10% or more. Can you imagine if we ever learn to use the full capacity of the Human Mind??
Jesus Christ - I be able to ask questions of the Author! What a fantasy and dream. I pray and Honor Him daily.
Ansel Adams - I am a budding photographer and would be thrilled to spend 60 minutes listening to the man that evolved the art to where it is now.
Art Wolfe - Another Great photographer. This man uses the camera to get the images that most of us would run from. He is knowledgable and skilled in the Art of Wildlife photography.
The Current President of the United States - To understand the pressures that this position carries with it. To be able to ask questions without having the words to the answers written for them. To generally give Him/Her the time to relax around the fire and be able to converse. Obviously, once the meeting was over, I would have to disappear because of the information that He/She shared.
And Finally....
My family and Friends. My Wife is my Life. My Son is my Light. I would like for my Mother and my Sisters to be there. It would be noisey, but it would be a memory that I could take with me anywhere..
Okay.. I m done.. sorry for the length..
