Alright MSN Frontpage users. We just purchased a new computer and it should be here in about 5 days.
Here s my question. I know I need to load Frontpage on it, but how do I transfer all the web files/pics n stuff that I ve already done and uploaded?
Will the system simply communicate and download all the appropriate files onto my harddrive next time they communicate?
I also have SmartFTP. Can I use it to move files back onto the new computer?
I remember someone saying i didn t need to save pictures and files on my computer once I" ve uploaded them. I just found a folder that his storing all my website info (pages and pics). Can I delete this? It s cluttering up my computer and using a lot needed space on this old pc.
JemJen24I m not 100% sure I understand your question, but I think you re refering to things on your " old machine" getting to your new one. Most likely the answer is " no" . It won t know what you downloaded before. If you have any home networking, you could transfer files from 1 to the other. I used a program called " Aloha Bob" s PC Relocator" for my MIL when I built her new computer. It moved all of her stuff over from the old 1 to the new 1.
Go to this board and ask some of the " nerds" for help... www.lowerytech.net/forum Good friends of mine. also try www.winguides.com

JemJen24Caped already had a good suggestion and I ll add to it. If you know how to use Newsgroups look for the frontpage group, and post to the group. You should get a response from a microsoft frontpage mvp (volunteer) that can further assist you and point out any other pitfalls or things to do. I ve transfered things several times, I just burn to a CD then re-import to the new FP and then go through republishing steps. I don t know if its the right way but it worked for me. You can also go to google and search for " microsoft frontpage mvp" what you should find is the websites that the MVPs run which frankly are usually better than http://support.microsoft.com which is yet another option.
Good luck and congrats on the new machine!
JemJen24thanks for the info! I published my question int he windguides forum.
