Title: replacing stock thermostat
Post by: campingboaters on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
I ve read on irv2 about some of the " big"  guys replacing their Heater/AC thermostat with a digital programmable house thermostat.  I m curious if I can do this in our hybrid.  We have a thermostat (heater only) similar to a pop-up s heater thermostat, but with no adjustment on cycle time.    I d like to pick up a thermostat and do this on our next trip while I m hanging around the camper with nothing else to do (while our infant naps).  It sure would be nice to pick an actual temperature instead of a level of warmness...

Anyone done this?  Do you have directions or pictures?

 Thanks![:)]

campingboatersHi, Mike (Camping Colorado) did this with his camper. You can see it [link=http://mywebpages.comcast.net/Camping_Colorado/Thermostat.htm]HERE.[/link]

I think it s just what you are looking for.

campingboatersOK, now I know it can be done.  I just need to take it apart and hopefully, it will all make sense when I see the wires and wiring diagram.

 Thanks!

campingboatersI think you just have to make sure you get a low voltage thermosat. IIRC they are 24V, which will work on a 12V system.
