Title: Outside Electrical Plug
Post by: Starcraft Dad on Sep 28, 2003, 07:05 PM
I m thinking about putting an electrical plug on the outside of the PUP so I don t have to run the tacky lights and other needed cords to the inside.  Is this an easy mod that I can do myself?  Or would it not be a good idea.  I m not the worlds best when it comes to this type of mod but I can follow directions pretty good. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Starcraft DadIf you have access to a plug on the inside, adding one outside should not be a big problem. It is really not that much different from adding a plug at home.

Just a couple of things to keep in mind:

Adding an additional plug does not provide additional " service" , you are still limited to the rating of the circuit you tap into (i.e. 15 amps)

You want to make sure this circuit is proitected by a GFCI

Make sure the outlet is protected from the weather.

Starcraft DadThanks Tim,  I knew I could count on you for a reply.  You have been very helpful in the past.  I put a link to your site from mine on the camping tips page so others could visit it also.

Anyway, we don t have a lot of electrical stuff in the PU.  No fridge, water heater or furnace it is just bare bones. Might use one of those  small Walmart fridge, we have the room for it above the ice box.  Mainly the plug is for tacky lights so I didn t have to run cords to the inside.
