We just completed our 5th annual church camp-out! It was an especially hard one for us, as the first Vermont State Police Officer, Sgt Michael Johnson, 39, to be killed by another person was a member of our chucrh and his funeral was Friday! Mike was very involved with our Sunday School kids, and had sang (The Newsboys, " It Is You" ) with them on June 1st, Children s Day, two weeks later on Father s Day, he was hit and killed by a drug dealer trying to outrun the state police! He leaves a wife and three young children under the age of 12!
Anyway, it was a time for healing to begin, it s far from complete but we had pretty good weather and did some hiking, biking, paddling, and swimming and while I will miss Mike for the rest of my life, this camp out has helped me greatly.

the university of scranton and that is where his killer was arrested.
garym053Hi rjs826, It was indeed senseless and tragic. Mike wasn t even on duty at the time. He simply responded because he was in the area and wanted to keep this " person" from entering a more populated area at speeds in excess of 100 mph! Mike was one of those one in a million cops! Even people he had busted sent flowers for the funeral! There are some in this community that haven t even begun to understand what s been lost! He had the personality to turn kids onto life, not drugs!
